Salt Lake City Amber Alert Update

There were several questions about the circumstances of today's Amber Alert. This article from KSL television will hopefully answer them.

Earlier today, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office issued an Amber Alert for 3-year-old Dulcinea Lopez. Just before 6p.m., both mother, Patricia Reyes-Zamora and Dulcinea were found In Taylorsville at a 7-Eleven near 4700 South and Redwood Road.

Lt. Paul Jaroscak, with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, says mother and child are fine. The mother is being questioned, and the girl will be reunited with her father, who has legal custody.

The mother could face several charges, and that will be determined after the mother and little girl are interviewed.

The Amber Alert was issued because authorities were concerned for the girl's safety. Jaroscak said, "The concern was her [Reyes-Zamora] drug addiction and the lifestyle she led, which is very transient. She could have been sleeping in cars, sleeping in vacant houses, so you got the weather to deal with. You've got the drug addiction, the girl's proximity to these drugs could have been a danger, so any of these factors led us to believe she was in danger."

Jaroscak says, "The mother does have a history of drug abuse, and there is a previous arrest for child endangerment involving the daughter in close proximity to drugs. And so those are the things that worried us."

Patricia Reyes-Zamora was being treated for drug withdrawals at the Avalon Health Care Center at 3855 S. 700 East. On Monday, her 3-year-old daughter, Dulcinea Lopez and her boyfriend came to visit her. The boyfriend then handed Dulcinea to Patricia Reyes-Zamora, and the two had not been seen since Jan. 2.
