My wife and I saw this website on CNN and thought that we should pass it along to those with children and grandchildren or even for those who like to know what's going on with those who live in your neighborhood.  Child predators are everywhere. Even next to your schools and churches. Stay informed. Be safe.

This site is great. It shows you all of the offenders info and eve a picture of them. I wrote an article with the link to this one, and I also included a web address for another site I found that has tips for keeping kids safer on the internet. Hi,
I used this site when we lived in our last house here in town. I was looking for a specific person who had just gotten out of jail for raping his granddaughter. BUT, he had a nephew in Family Services Court and never ended up on those sites. Though, three others on our road were there, that I had no idea would be. It's always good to check, and you can never be too careful with someone as precious as a child. Thanks - Walter and Teara!

i used to live in florida and they have a really great program on child predators like the monitoring program and also database on predators. now there is jessica lunsford law which helps too.

I've visited this site in the past just out of curiosity. It was interesting to find how many sexual predators and offenders live right in my small town area. And the site is updated when one of them moves, as two from a neighboring town relocated here recently. Gives quite a bit of information so you can keep an eye open for them and steer children clear.

Thank you for finding the article relevant Rob even though you have no children. There isn't a "type" of person who commits these acts. They come from all walks of life, they can be male or female, tall or short, good looking or ugly, rich or poor, straight or gay. The truth is you never know.

We have the Megan's Law public database of sex offenders in California and we were surprised to find that we had a very dangerous offender a few houses down from us. Our neighbor passed out flyers about him with his photo to everyone in the neighborhood. It was very creepy passing his house and sometimes seeing him outside gardening. I hated when I had my kids with me. But, it gave the opportunity to have that unpleasant conversation about what some bad adults can do and ways they should respond. Luckily, one day he just moved out and new people have moved in. Still have to be careful though -- most offenders are never caught.

I use this site all the time. I check this site out before I decide to move into a new area to make sure there isn't any offenders by us since I have a daughter and I'm home alone a lot.

Only problem is that it doesn't track those who are supposed to let the city know they are living there but have not. Its a sad world we have come to live in these days. I remember being able to play outside not telling the parental units where I was going just that I would be home by dinner. No cell phones and kidnappings were not thought of the way they are these days. I personally think that anyone who should be listed on that list should have to have a micro chip or something to track them!!! They should NOT be able to live somewhere with out people knowing where!!!! They should be watched at all times and be able to be tracked at all times! I personally dont think they should have any kind of privacy!!! But these are my opinions and only that!

this is a fantastic addition to CODE AMBER ALERT...thank you so much for posting this and bringing it to our attention....I'm heading there now to check it out and see who is near my kids schools.... "10"

I just came back from the site and decided to delete my first comment and add to it...I found 2 offenders living within 1000 feet of an elementary school. I will be checking to see if this is in fact within their probation boundaries or if they slipped through the radar. thank you so much for posting this...it is good information to have on hand!

Thanks for site info! I just recently moved to a new condo and have a 1 month old baby girl. Scary to find a sexual offender against children across the street from me and two other sexual offenders no more than 4 streets over. Next time i move i'll use this website to help decide on which street seems less crowded w/offenders... (overall 59 offenders found in a 5 mile radius, sickening!)

It is amazing how there are actual concentrations of offenders in certain areas in the city. That's not to say that I wasn't a little sick to see the ones listed on streets where large concentrations fo middle school kids walk home past everyday. Thanks for posting this!

I do know that the website and schools etc, can only get the information if it is available. I know that some sex offenders are required to register with the county they live in every year, whether they do or not is a different case. We are not saying the site is perfect, as obviously it is not, but any information is better than none. You can check with schools and I suggest even the local police department. All of the information is supposed to be on file, and I believe it is supposed to be available to the public. I don't know who is responsible for updating the website, but it may take longer to update that than the schools. Also, with as many sex offenders etc. there are, I can't imagine it is an easy job to keep up with them all. It's a very sad and scary reality, but whatever information we can get really can make a difference. Arm yourself with what is available.
