So.... a few weeks ago I entered a few photos of my youngest son, Rylan, and am crossing my fingers that he gets picked as one of the 20 finalists. I know it's a l-o-n-g shot, but hey -- who knows, right?
"Gap is excited to announce the launch of its annual Casting Call contest - a nationwide search for the cutest babies and kids to become babyGap and GapKids models. Gap is teaming up with Snapfish, a leading online photo service, to invite you to enter babies (ages four and under) and kids (ages five to ten) across the country into the Casting Call. From September 15 through October 22, 2008, submit your favorite photo of your child(ren) for a chance for them to be featured in an upcoming babyGap or GapKids campaign. Finalists and winners will receive prize packages including special gifts from babyGap, GapKids, and Snapfish. A panel of judges will narrow all entries received down to 20 finalists (5 boys, 5 girls, 5 baby boys, and 5 baby girls). Those finalists will be voted on by the public from December 8 through December 21, 2008. The children who receive the most votes in each category will be announced as winners in January 2009."
The fine print says you're only allowed to enter 5 photos so I picked 3 to enter of Rylan and might find 2 to enter of my middle son, Alex, before the deadline. Both of them have great/funny personalities & since the judges choose finalists based on the overall appearance of the child, the personality & the quality of the photo -- we might just have a shot.
I looked through a lot of the other entries in Rylan's age group before even deciding to actually enter and not too many of them stood out when I put myself in the mindset of judges using that criteria. There were a few kids who had some really awesome photos, but it looked to me like they were already professional models or the photos were taken by professionals. That's not against the rules or anything but I'm just saying that those were really the only ones that stood out to me. There are a LOT of cute kids!!!
Anywhoo -- just wanted to share with you all that I entered some photos into a contest & I'm hoping that something good will come of it. I'm not asking for votes or anything like that because the judges select the top 20 finalists, without help from the public. Once those 20 kids are selected then they fly them to California where professional photographers do a photo shoot. After that is done (which would be so fun to do!) they select just one photo from that shoot for each of the 20 finalists, post them on the Gap website and THEN voters can vote once a day.
IF by some weird chance Rylan is chosen I'll definitely let you all know!

The Photo cannot have been submitted previously in a contest of any kind or exhibited or displayed publicly through any means previously.
I was going to enter some of Chris's recent pictures, but they've all been posted here.
Good Luck!
