My mom insists that she only ever wanted one.

My mom-in-law has 3 because Multiple sclerosis prevented her from having more.

After years of infertility, we adopted a beautiful boy from Chile, 1 year and 9 months later my second and biological son was born.

My first marriage was a rocky one, so I decided that one child was enough to raise by myself. When I remarried, I added two more children (his) to the group. I'm blessed with three children and a beautiful little grandson. Lucky me!

I have a his, mine, and ours family. None were actually planned. All were surprises, in some cases, shocks.

We have 2. I wish we could have more, but age and money were really the deciding factors.

Hmmm --- We originally wanted 4. We are both from families of at least 3 kiddos, so I think I just assumed I would have that many or more. My husband is the baby of 5, so he is used to semi-big families --- lots of cousins etc...

BUT, having the first child rocked our world more than we thought it would. We decided we would have one more after the first then probably stop. We had a SURPRISE third and then did something permanent. So, 3 kids it is. I wanted more than one really because I wanted to experience having a newborn again. It is a lot of work, but the snuggles all make it worth it!

Stopping at one would have been a lot easier (work wise and sibling rivalry-wise) but I like that my kids are all close in age and have built in playmates. They have to learn to share, work together, etc...
