I just got home from another session with my tattoo artist in Salem Oregon, and this is the result. I LOVE my parents, a lot.
It took 45 minutes for him to transfer his original stencil to my arm and draw it on the skin... then another 2.5 hours under the needle.
I'll go back in June to have it completed, the irises will purple, the hearts will be red and the sweet williams will most likely be white and blue. I chose those particular flowers because they are my mom and dad's favorites. I say 'dad's' in plural because I have 2 of them! I was raised by my step dad whom I call 'Dad' but I'm also really close to my bio-dad that I met when I was 19. It's so cool to have so many people in my life that love me.
Yes, it hurt. :o)

You are so much stronger than I could have ever been. I personally would love a tattoo but I'm way to chicken to ever get one.
You'll have to post again after you get the color done :)
Trudy, I am 57, 58 next month. You are never too old. I have my son do my tattoos. I had my first one at the back of my neck, over the first vertebrae, it is one of the least painful spots. It is a sanskrit Om, I am adding vines, then a lotus, then butterflies to symbolize my sons and grandchildren.
I know your mom and dad are so proud that you have honored this in this special way~~
Thanks for posting to All Photo Essays Here!
NICE WORK.. It really hurts the closer it gets to the inside of your arm doesnt it? hahaha
Just pointing the way
Your like my daughter, the beautifully illustrated woman.
(No tattoos for me, but my middle son is contemplating one.....)
So when I saw that poem, a very nice poem, my FIRST thought was not: "Wow! How awesome!" but.....I wanted it to be removable, lol. When I found out it was not, I had to go have a very quiet cry in the bathtub before I could be happy about it....and then I was fine.
I just kept remembering all the times when he'd fallen down or something and I'd ask the doctor "but...it won't leave a scar, will it?" His tattoo was bigger than even the biggest scars he'd gotten from skateboarding, sledding and rocking his corner of the word.
But I love his tattoo now. It is so....HIM.
Thank you VERY, very much for all your comments on this article.
Just to tell you, my mom has a tattoo on her arm of a dream snake with wings. She had the dream snake done in Fort Bragg, California years ago and then for her 60th birthday she had the wings added on by the same artist that tattoos my husband and I. My dad on the other hand does not have a tattoo, wants one, but can't decide on what to get.
Pretty much everyone in our family has tattoos... my husband, me, my mom, my MIL & FIL, my brother-in-law, our Great Aunt, we've all been tattooed by the same artist. My sister-in-law will be going in soon to have some work done by him too. My parents LOVE this one and are happy I got it, although I'm sure they're wondering when I'll stop getting my body inked. I only plan to have half sleeves done, and maybe one on my upper back. Then I'm done.
Thanks again!
I also wanted to drop by to say hello.
nice pics!!!
My husband is trying to find one that he can put our girls names in. Can't seem to find the right one he likes.
