This editorial is in request to many men who commented on my editorial on Common Mistakes Men Make in their apparel. I decided to give them equal time but at NO time do I now or then pretend to be the Fashion Police.
*Disclaimer*
This is just for laughs and not to criticize anyone. So please if you can't take a joke; Don't read this and or give me a one just because you do not agree. Just move along and pretend that you did not read something that I wrote as it was not pointed at anyone and just a look from my point of view. All set?? Lets go then...(The comments are not in any specific category)
* Shorts so short that they leave nothing to the imagination.
*Clothes so baggy, they make you look so much bigger.
* Clothes so tight that one can actually see all of your veins through your clothes....And I know you ladies know what I am talking about.
*Clothes so tight that if you should sneeze your buttons will go flying and become harmful for those around you.
* Wearing blouses so low cut anywhere and everywhere you go. Being sexy and proud of your assets are one thing but, sleezy is another.
* Wearing sports or work out gear everywhere you go; Be proud of yourself for working out but geez we don't all care to smell you. (especially not at the grocery store)
* Wearing so much perfume that people around you need a gas mask to be near you. Perfume is nice and I personally wear it everyday but, a few rules of thumb that some of you may not know:
Light colored perfumes are lighter in scent and are best worn in the spring and summer months so as not to mix with perspiration.
Dark colored perfumes are heavier in scent and are best worn in the fall and winter as they smell nice when wearing heavier clothes.
* Tennis shoes worn with everything - A NOT. No one says you have to love heels as much as I do, but tennis shoes are not appropriate with just anything...best left to the men who choose to do so.
* Chipped fingernail polish - A BIG NO! If you can't afford a manicure either don't wear polish or take it off as soon as it starts to chip. And, if you can't afford to get one; learn to give yourself one. Its quite easy, really.
Same goes for toenails and please keep them trimmed and CLEAN!
* Hair - Please keep clean at all times - no one cares what style you wear but if it smells dirty it is dirty so please go and wash it.
* Teeth - Keep clean at all times - Must be clean at all times as no one wants to smell halitosis and or cigarette breath. Keeping them clean and fresh makes it all the better to smile and also to kiss with...
* Wearing underwear too small for you:
Bras - If your boobies slip out of the top of bra, it means you need a larger size unless you are wearing a demi-cup, bustier, or a lift up underwired bra.
Underwear - If we can see the lines through your clothes - DON'T wear them. Either they are too small or your clothes are.
* Makeup - A little is good but too much is just that, too much! Au Naturale is always best but only if you are under the age of 25 when one has no wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles under eyes, bags undereyes or crows feet or even a bad complexion. There are many good products on the market now that one shouldn't have a reason to look any way but their best at all times.
This is just a short compilation of MY observations and not meant to hurt anyone or insult anyone. This was written to have fun with and give the guys an equal chance to poke fun at some of these things that we as women do wrong.
For the most part, I believe that some of these faux pax are made to attract the men and I too believe that some men actually like some of these items but I want you gals and guys opinions and YOUR take on these items and possibly give us some of your own.
Thanks!!

lol, never let it be said you are not fair! :)
Great tips!
as foe the rest of it... its interesting.... and very tongue in cheek.... I like it!
It is a great article.
Most of the time I don't wear any but, I don't go around bragging about it...
Adair,I agree with you wholeheartedly.Only thing worse than a visual thong,is a thong on a heavy woman AND the clothes are too small. So the fat rolls hang out between the thong and the clothes.EEEEUGH!!
*Clothes so baggy, they make you look so much bigger.
* Tennis shoes worn with everything - A NOT. No one says have to love heels as much as I do, but tennis shoes are not appropriate with just anything...best left to the men who choose to do so.
But in my defense, they don't make alot of clothes that fit me so it's either too small or too big, I'd rather where too big. And because of my 'baggy' clothes, sneakers (tennis shoes) go with everything I have. I am a jeans & t-shirt kind of gal.
These were great! Thanks!
God blesings
10*
dee-dee
For example, I can see where women would thing that "Wearing underwear too small for you:" and
"If your boobies slip out of the top of bra, it means you need a larger size unless you are wearing a demi-cup, bustier, or a life up underwired bra."
should be corrected.
For men, many of these are plusses. :o)
Thanks!
As I said before and I stick by this one; If your underwear lines show through your clothes then your underwear is too tight or your clothes is...
Thanks Rush! ;o
Thanks for stopping by!
As for being a t-shirt and sneakers gal then I say go for it as long as they are clean and fit well. Oh, and don't forget about washing your sneakers when dirty. Dirty ones are so unbecoming.
Take care and good luck!
What I really dislike though, is being at work and some woman wearing a lightly transparent top with nothing underneath. Do you realize how hard it is for a single man to work around a good looking woman, when you can see that much? And I mean MUCH!
And women, when wearing shorts or shart skirts, please wear underwear. Not all but some are just not that interesting to see, and others make it tough to work when you're being smiled at by a women bending over (seen this more in Oklahoma than anywhere else, infact never saw a woman wear a short skirit with noithing underneath until I came here).
Thanks for stopping by and for your comments! Appreciated them.
Thanks!
As I said in my last paragraph after the list I did say that some of these would be things that you guys would like.
Alles klar??
Women who dress like their daughters! Wearing shirts that do NOT cover all of their belly (not their midriff, these ladies have BELLIES!) and low waisted jeans that hang below the waistline and have that belly, not only showing, but bulging over the tight jeans waistband.
NOT A GOOD LOOK! ladies. PLease! If you've got it, flaunt it! and the more the better but if your best days are behind you, please look in the mirror before you leave home and let your daughters wear those clothes!
As for seeing worse, oh yeah, I've seen worse. The absolute worse was the woman who was skinny and sallow of skin who honest-to-god wore her 6 year old's shorts to a club meeting. That's when I first heard "camel-toe" ... I'm over 50 and had never heard that term before. Now I'm sorry I did because I have a very graphic image to go with it!
Heavy women who wear low-rise jeans and crop tops, so the belly bulge sticks out! ACK! I just want to go up to them and say, "OMG woman! If you're heavy, you COVER it!" The woman in question was (to my utter horror), my own daughter. Now if I could just get her to wear jeans that don't show the "plumber's butt" when she bends down. *sigh* ... did you know that it's almost impossible to find the right words to say to your daughter when she's wearing something uncomplimentary? LOL!
One year, well it was in my 8th grade; I had a brand new little corderoy jumper on. It was chocolate brown with a small pocket and a cherry embroidered on it. We were decorating for Christmas in school. My teacher (a man) asked for volunteers for many of the different decorations being made. I was one of four girls and boys chosen to hang stars from the ceiling on a ladder. When I got to about the fourth step, it was quite clear that everyone could see my panties so my teacher quickly said "Esther we can use you over here" and only after his face was as red as could be. That poor man suffered with me that year...lol!
Have fun is all I say especially if you are free to do so...;p
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I always think that women that do this must be awfully hard up or desperate to attract someone of the opposite sex in this fashion. I too have seen this one too many times. Good gosh, I don't wear too much underwear because I get too hot (its really hot in Texas) but I don't wear my pants so tight that everyone can see what it is that I have hidden beneath those pants.
In re to your daughter. It is a difficult situation. Maybe if you bought her a new pair of pants and shirt that are more suitable she might take the hint or try telling her that this or that would be more becoming to her?? Good luck on this because I know it won't be easy.
Thanks for the comments!
If you truly don't like it and don't desire to say what you really feel; just ignore the question enough times or act deaf and "she" will eventually get the message...
You are too funny!!
Oh, and please resend the questionnaire, thanks!
No one was pointing fingers at you or anyone. So sorry if you took it personally as that was NOT my intention. You keep on truckin' honey and dress just the way you like and the way that please YOU. Nobody else should have anything to say to you anyway.
As for this piece of editorial NO ONE said you had to dress perfectly. This isn't about perfection because had it been there wouldn't have been a reason to write this now would there???
Thanks for your comments.
For instance, I am a wood burner in the winter. I don't notice the smell of wood smoke. But if I am standing in line behind another wood burner I can 'definitely' smell it on their clothes, so know I also smell that way.
Also do not try to hide BO with perfume - EUUUWWWWW!
On my clothes fitting. I do shop Lane Bryant and Roman's and such... but having had bowel cancer surgery and an ilieostomy, my stomach is lopsided. The side with the ostomy sticks out farther than the other side. This is unbecoming (to me) so I wear larger shirts so they cover my 'bad' area. As I also have a roll there due to all the muscles being cut - again have an unsightly area that no amount of exercising/dieting will undo. And though I do have a football player's shoulders and wear a Double D bra - to get shirts long enough, they are sometimes baggy (which I want a little baggy because I don't want the imperfections being emphasized).
As to plumber's butt - I have a 12 year old granddaughter that is very well proportioned, but she has a booty (I always tease her about having too much junk in her trunk) like you wouldn't believe (also wears a D cup), but no matter what size/style of jeans/slacks we get her they do not stay up when she bends/squats. Any suggestions for this would be greatly appreciated.
Guess that's all I have to add right now - have to go check out your article for the men's clothing.
Tougher to find natural, waist-high or just below the waist jeans. Tougher to find stylish tops and sweaters that are not too narrow or are baby doll - women should not wear the baby doll look unless they are about 100 pounds and a size 0. Nearly every woman looks pregnant in one of these baby dolls.
A big no no.
Of course, there are the large size fashions, but women who are under 50 or 60 will have a hard time liking these fashions.
In short. fashion is for the young, slim teen or woman. Heavier women have to be older to look decent in clothes that fit well.
I've seen teen girls who really should NOT shop in the junior department try on clothes that are much too tight. Problem is, the Misses Departments are styled too old (even the stylish sections won't suit a 16 year old girl) and the Women's World Sections are for 14W or 16W and teen girls who likely would fit into a 14W or 16W instead of squeezing into a junior XL, just won't wear something that makes them look 50.
Needs to be more variety from the fashion industry. But that ain't gonna happen.
The young and slim spend a whole heckova lot of money on fashion. So the industry aims mostly for them. Besides, the advertising is much prettier for the young and slim.
Even the plus models are only a 14W - about 150 pounds - and that is a far cry from most of the women who shop in these departments - between 220 and 300 pounds...
Like I mentioned on this thread there are always exceptions to the rule. I would no more say that a woman with one leg should wear heels than I would say a woman who has had a mastectomy shouldn't wear bras...not sure this makes sense since I just got home from a birthday party and had a couple of glasses of wine...and with meds no less so please forgive me.
As for your 12 year old granddaughter I don't know size of clothing she wears so I really can't help other than to say to buy her jeans that go up to the waist and have her wear a belt and then she won't be spilling out of her pants when squatting.
Thank you so much for your comments and for stopping by!
These "guys" haven't been to some certain biker bars(or others) in awhile...where the women who have the wrinkles are dressing in their kids' way too small, way too tight clothes, and the makeup is worse than being backstage on opening night with a bunch of preteen girls!!!
I'm a few over 25, and prefer to go without--don't like it? Don't look.
Otherwise...pretty interesting. I'll have to go look at the article that sparked this one.
I also think there is a weight limit both ways for spandex. I'm heavy and know better, but if your knee is wider than your thigh please don't wear spandex.
Naturally thin people don't have visible ribs because they're the right size for their body type. If you've forced yourself to be so thin that your ribs are visible, please, we don't want to see that, either - the anorexic look is just painful!

Size of clothing is key here. You sound like you may work in a department store which is not the only place to find fashionable clothing. Not only for the teens, older women or heavier set ladies.
There are stores in particular that carry clothing for teens that and heavier women where they can shop. I named Lane Bryant, Avenue and Roamans and by catalog or the internet there is Newport News which is not only very fashionable but price point conscious. I don't say now or even deemed myself to be the know all about fashion, this somehow has taken a twist by some of you who either did not read the article or the thread itself to understand that this was supposed to be satire as it was for the article on men's common dress mistakes.
I was gmaied numerous times and was asked within the thread to give them equal time and to write on of these on woman which is what I did. I wrote the list out because that is what I see and I feel negatively about these items and as it turns out many other women have been able to know and understand what it is that I was trying to say however overt it was written.
Those of you who chose to come on to criticize me and rate me with ones are the ones who took this in earnest and not for what it was actually written as.
(Please excuse the typos but it is difficult to try to tape with a numb hand.)
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks!!
Thanks for your comments!
Jamie - In our teen years anything that makes you feel good, wear it but once out of our teens we don't really want to break these little old rules and they no longer look as good as they once did! lol
Have a great day!!
Good luck!
Kirk - ;p
Demongirl - Your Goddess says that you are too cool to make any of these blunders! I'm glad you got a laugh or two out of this? Did you read the one on Men??
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey Timothy, do you where I can get one of those goat man er goat jackets?? Please let me know ok so that I might order it before the winter sets in ok??
Biker bars - never been to one but I always did want to check one out of course now it was a silly thought and of course being against violence I no longer feel the need to go to one. Best left to watch on A&E...
Your picture looked devine! About the make up; what type did you let them put on you?? I now wear Bare Escentials which is so light and perfect that I would highly recommend it to anyone plus it is not as expensive as Lancome is which I had worn for over 20 years.
Blessings to you! :)
I agree with the spandex bit but not just women who are rail thin can wear them. I have actually seen more ladies of average weight wear them with tunic tops and they actually are very becoming!
Thanks!
I wish it wasn't so but of course these are just my opinions and no one else has to agree with this.
Oh, and about those thongs, you're right they're not too comfortable at all. I believe that they were just meant to be made as a tease and not really to be worn out with everything.
I too am one of those who doesn't wear sneakers or t-shirts or jeans too much. I love to run so I do have to wear running shoes and short shorts but the jeans are hanging in my closet for times needed to dress very casual and the t-shirts are just that...t-shirts, nothing feminine about them so I don't. Better to buy sports tanks and other shirts to wear plus t-shirts are HOT to wear.
Thanks Liz!! ;D
trailer trash chic
But I do understand what it is you speak of; tops that are of color and then white bra straps showing through or even black bras with different colored tops that don't even match the colors.
Thanks for your input.
So, Good for you!!
Thanks for stopping by!
However, none at all is fine for any woman of any age anytime. Being taught by advertising that a woman is not sufficient as she is, clean and well presented is all that is necessary. Covering up her natural looks, including wrinkles and all (they are not blemishes, you know) is never necessary.
Except when one is nodding yes yes yes while the other is flipping c'mere c'mere c'mere.
