Today's Iowa City Press CItizen had an update to the article I shared on Friday. Here is the excerpt from today's update.
Store manager John Alberhasky just chuckled when he talked about the carnivorous thief and said the steaks were thrown away.
"I'm just reminded of 'Animal House,' where he's stuffing all the steaks and stuff into his pants and sweater," Alberhasky said. "I can't remember the last time we had somebody busted for stealing steaks."
Although Alberhasky can laugh about the incident, he admits the occasional shoplifting -- usually liquor -- gets a little old.
"It's really just frustrating," he said. "I've been real adamant with my staff, every time we catch a shoplifter, we have to press charges so we get the reputation of pressing charges."
Police reports state Surette had red, bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. He also had an open container of alcohol and "directed profanity at officers."
The police report also states Surette had "problems with judgment."
