The following is a song/poem I wrote for/about a friend who just could not seem to let his destructive relationship with his lady go. The lady in his life caused him great misery, she would leave often, yet, he always allowed her to return. She continued to repeat the destructive cycle of residential tag and emotional yoyo. At the time I wrote this, I too was a bit jaded emotionally, having just been through a bitter unwanted divorce myself and it obviously impacted the form and content within.
It occurs to me that I could replace the instances of “you’ with “he or his” and change supporting word suffixes to fit as well
(I.e. When she pads to his door his options explore!……Does he feed her when she starts to meow?)
That being said, I will not do so at this time, yet wanted to make it know that it is optional.
Mad Kat Dance
A kitty Kat’s on the prowl;……When she pads to your door, your options explore!……Do you feed her when she starts to meow?
What will you do now? Will you let her in the house? If you do, you’re a fool! To her your just a mouse!
Optional Chorus lead in*
If she is in, you won’t win!……Your life becomes a game,……a game of cat and mouse! She will lead you from room to room……and lounge from morn’ till noon.
This affection and connection, it’s a sin!? You don’t win! She brings nothing in! Your always paying out! If you stop she pouts. She slinks to the door more demanding now! When you open the door your scratched,……cause’ that’s the way of Kats!
CHORUS*
All the men are watching her;……She eyes them all with glee.……When she’s prowling down the street,……who will her next kill be?
She is slinky and she’s stealthy……and is gracious……as can be! When they turn their back…….she will attack! They too are blinded,…see?
Yet, you are still awaiting her,……hoping she returns? When she does, she won’t let on about the kills she’s earned!
Yah! It’s her ploy! You’re her toy! Scurry, scurry and hurry boy! Run away fast……and if your sharp, today won’t be your last!
She’ll be back soon!……Will you squeak to see her strut!? You think you have her figured out! Did she just hiss SSSSOO what?
This is just a game to her! Can’t you hear it in when she purrs? If you balk or back away she ruffles up her fur!
She’s out the door again! Will this Mad Dance never end?
CHORUS*^
She’s going to sink her teeth in boy;……You best not stay the wait! A feline hunger drives her on, which you can’t satiate!
Fool! Fool! Look around! See the tatters on the ground!? She rakes your soul like a knife and will surely drag you down!
Open your eyes! See the rends she leaves? Her claws are like needles in your sleeve!……With a vehement snarl,……once again she is gone! Do you dare retrieve?
CHORUS*^
Damn! That Kat is mean!? Sure, you love to watch her preen and flaunt her silky sheen! Her affection, your affliction, takes you by the heart strings.……She’s keen!
That’s the game she plays,……to the end of her days,…….as a kitty Kat on the prowl…….
CHORUS*^

You are very much welcome Angela!
I can't help but glance at your icon. I love fishing and that fish looks like a beauty. I can't tell whether that's a lake trout or a largemouth bass. Either way it's a nice fish.
I'll be catching you around gather. before I go I'll push the connect button. It's a pleasure meeting you.
What do we expect from a Kat ?
BTW Welcome to gather.
You do have a way with words making them dance to
your tune. Great read and I will be looking for more of
the same, soon. If this were put to music it surely will
be a number one seller. Thank you for sharing.

........You and Donna K bring valid points. It is a view from one side, and others have suggested I write one from the female perspective as well. I have been considering this!
Donna K, Deanna, Trudy, Visionaerie, Arlene and Barbara. I too think it woud be great to music, yet, I do not have the know how to do it! My sis has mentioned something about helping though. I can't remember who, but someone said kid rock should get ahold of it heh.
donna h and everyone here, I do have a couple of other pieces I could publish, but in my opinion they are not as zesty as this one. One is set to the tune of "The Gambler", and the other is fun with counting. ie. numbers. Both are similiar in theme to this one and written arround the same time.
LOL @ Michelle......sorry. I know someone else with "kitten" as a nickname too and this song does not do justice to her either, as she is not like that.
Great job, and I am sure you could find somebody to put it to music. You would probably do better keeping your rights and royalties if you went with a local band that is up and coming though. Also they are easier to get in contact with. You can also have more say in what style you had in mind, or what you hear.
