I have a 2 year old daughter, Melina, who LOVES to play at the playground. When it’s nice out, I try to get her out as much as possible to enjoy the weather. Yesterday, it hit 79 degrees so we decided to take her to the local playground. Me and her father were taking her all around the playground, the monkey bars, the jungle gym type thing that kids climb on, the swings, everything! She was walking under the monkey bars and 2 kids probably about...8 or so ran up to the monkey bars and started going across as Melina was standing under them. One little boy kicked her in the head as he was swinging. Now, I had warned the little girl before him to watch where she was going, so this REALLY irritated me. Melina just kind of looked around when it happened and it didn’t really bother her, but it really bothered me that his parents were nowhere to be found. I asked him where his parents were and he said that his mom was talking to some other mother in the parking lot. I decided to watch him to see if he actually went up to any parents in the playground. He went up to a mother that was sitting on a bench talking on her cell phone about 5 feet away. She had seen the whole thing and never said anything. She was too busy on her cell phone chatting instead of watching her kid. Sad. Melina decided she wanted to swing on the swing sets. We put her in the baby swing and let her go! I watched as another set of parents told this little girl that she was too fat to be in the swings. She had to be about 3 or 4 years old. Too fat???? Wow. As Melina went around the playground, we had a great time. We were about to leave when we started to smell smoke. That's right; a mother had lit up a cigarette at the playground! Now I'm not saying parents shouldn't smoke, do what you want. But, when around a bunch of children, AT LEAST walk away some to smoke. We were APPALLED! We ended up leaving. Some people amaze me.

They took offense of course and being that they were visiting and not from our town had some choice words to say about "these people". I was angry that those of us who were there to enjoy some time with our children had to witness raging parents and that that chose to attack some small children.
