One day a couple of years ago I read a post on Gather about the website called Spark People. I had no intention of going on a diet so it was a huge surprise to me when I went to the website and joined that day. After a few months of sticking with a diet and exercise plan I found myself weighing less than I had in over 20 years.
Then my mother passed away and I entered into a dark period of mourning, grief, and emotional overeating. There were times when I thought I was pulling myself out of the grieving process and I would get myself back on a program and back to posting on Spark. But these periods were short lived and after more than a year of feeding my pain, I had gained back the weight I had lost, plus 3 pounds more.
Everyday was a challenge for me to find clothes in my closet that would fit. Walking to the mail box was an effort and I was beginning to actually experience chest pains. Of course, not wanting to admit any of this to another human being, I decided to go back to my friends at Spark People and see what was happening.
That day was 18 days ago. That was the day that I read a post about the book called LIFE IS HARD FOOD IS EASY, BY LINDA SPANGLE. Along with the book, she has a handbook called 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS, THE SECRET TO BEING SUCCESSFUL ON ANY DIET PLAN. http://www.100dayschallenge.com/thanks.html
For the past 18 days I have been following the plan and learning a lot about emotional eating. If you are interested in reading my progress, or want more information about the plan, please vist me at: http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=JMARIES51
It doesn't cost anything to join Spark People, and it is really a wonderful support for anyone that is struggling with their weight, wanting to get healthy, and all other sorts of information. I would encourage anybody to just stop by and check out the website.
