Book Review: Homeland and other Stories

Author: Barbara Kingsolver

Although she is one of my favorite authors, this is not one of my favorite books.

Some of the stories had promise, and some were better than others. Yet, as I am usually blown away by her essays and her novels, these just didn't move me that much.

When I checked to see when this book was published, the original date was 1989. Ah... she's matured a LOT as a writer since then I am sure.

If you like short stories, these are good, just not as great as I expect her writing to be.

As you know, Kingsolver is one of my favorite writers also. I haven't read this one but still may give it a try.

I have several of her books that I have received as gifts but I've never read any of them. I've tried but haven't gotten past the first or second chapter.

I usually like books that tell the whole story in the whole book, not short stories.
