Points for Habitat for Humanity and other organizations

Several of us in the First Chapters Romance contest have pledged our Gather points for Home Depot gift cards for the Habitat For Humanity Office in New Orleans. I'd love for everyone to chime in on the comments where their points stand and if they've cashed them in. It'd be nice to see a total amount.

I'll start:  I sent a $50 gift card off and currently have 1200 points, so once that hits the 1565 benchmark, that will be another $25.

giving you more points Judi...If I do this, I'll go down the street where there is still a house missing and hand it to them myself so I know exactly where it went for. :)

I just cashed in my points for a $25.00 gift card. You can put the Habitat for Humanity address in the send to field and by pass having it sent to you first.

Well, as of this morning I have enough for a $25. I'll be ordering it and having it sent later today. I wish I would have hit my $50 goal. :-( But I guess $25 is better than nothing.

Well, my heart was in the right place, but I'm a pretty inept points gigolo. :-(

I'm 810 points SHORT of being able to donate a Home Depot card. That's going to take many more weeks at the rate I accumulate them. I'll keep plugging away and send my card along when I get there.

I haven't been "on line" lately because I was in my hometown area of Southern Miss...about 55 miles from New Orleans. YES, after over two years these areas are STILL in need of this type of help. I pledged any points I earned during FCR. I'm adding those to previously existing points and sending my $50 card to Habitat for Humanity. I was so very fortunate to win a $50 gift card for Borders for one of my comments on an FCR chapter in the first round, so I'm happy to pass along my good fortune to such a terrific cause! Thanks to you and Jamie and Dale and all the others who participated in this drive for a such a worthy cause!

P.S. Great cause! I work with homeless people as a volunteer and I know how hard many of them work just to get a home again, after theirs has burned down or they've suffered a major financial setback or crisis due to something like a hurricane, flooding, illness, etc. Many of them were middle class. It can truly happen to anyone.

Hey, Judi, you're almost there! I only have around 900 some points right now - but I think I'll keep kicking mine in for Habitat. I sent $25 to New Orleans, have another $25 I haven't sent, and at this point, I guess I should see what kinds of efforts are going on in San Diego, my old home town.

I should have another $50 shortly, and I've got $25 on one other Gather account - IOHHTheMovie.gather.com - that did NOT vote during the contest, but was used for promo purposes before Round 1 started.

All totalled, I'll be sending $125 to Habitat from me personally.
