Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal Review

If you've read any of Christopher Moore's books you'll have an idea of what to expect from him.  This has got to be one of my favorite books of all time.  I keep going back to it, and love it just as much as the first time I picked it up.  If you're offended by a little blasphemy, this book isn't for you :)

Ever wonder what the Bible didn't tell you about Jesus?  From childhood to crucifixion this book follows Jesus (called Joshua in the book--Jesus is the Greek translation of the Hebrew, Yeshua, which is Joshua) through the trials of learning how to be the Messiah.  The story is told by a the brought back from the dead best pal, Biff who certainly puts a unique spin on events.

I swear I managed to laugh through nearly the whole story (except for the ending of course because we all know what happens then).

But, if this gives you any indication of what to expect out of this book, take a look at this excerpt- Biff's take on Joshua's sermons:

"Joshua's ministry was three years of preaching, sometimes three times a day, and although there were some high and low points, I could never remember the sermons word for word, but here's the gist of almost every sermon I ever heard Joshua give.

You should be nice to people, even creeps.
And if you:
a) believed that Joshua was the Son of God (and)
b) he had come to save you from sin (and)
c) acknowledged the Holy Spirit within you (became as a little child, he would say) (and)
d) didn't blaspheme the Holy Ghost (see c)
then you would:
e) live forever
f) someplace nice
g) probably heavan
However, if you:
h) sinned (and/or)
i) were a hypocrite (and/or)
j) valued things over people (and)
k) didn't do a, b, c, and d,
then you were:
l) f***ed"
