(a gaslight mystery) by Victoria Thompson
As much as I like mysteries, and as much as I like books about old New York, this did NOT excite me.
First, it's written at a fifth grade reading level, tops (maybe even 4th - I am a reading teacher, this is not hyperbole). Granted there is sex scandal after sex scandal, so the material is not appropriate for even middle school kids to read.
About 50 pages before the mystery is "solved", I was well aware of what had happened and how it happened.
It's a fast read, I'll give you that.
