Friends,
Some of you have been looking for an update on Streaker so I must apologize for the delay. Life has interupted over the past couple of weeks, including earlier today when my Uncle Lewis passed away. Streaker and I learned of his passing when we stopped by to say hello and show him that Streaker was, once again, walking on her own. Uncle Lewis liked Streaker; in fifty something years, she's the first dog to have been welcomed inside my uncle's house. Some of you have offered condolesces on Uncle Lewis' photo-post. They are very warmly received. Thank you.
Yes, I did say, Streaker is walking on her own again. The vet removed her hobble brace last Friday and is seeing her again in two weeks to judge her progress without it. Although we did a little outing this morning (several photos below), the vet still wants me to limit her mobility some what until he re-cjecks her. We took a ride through Letchworth State Park, the scene of her accident but we avoided the area where she went over the cliff and this time, she had her leash on before she got out of the truck.
As you know, after her fall, she would not eat anything for twelve days and drank very little water. Her weight had fallen to 28 pounds. Friday, at the vet's, she weighed in at 44.5 pounds. Very good news. She should top out between 47 and 48 pounds.
Today was an exception. Most days and for the remainder of her recovery, she mostly lays around the house, plays with a couple of toys, reads Lewis Knight's "Gathertown" tales and sleeps. It is a good regimen and one she will basically stick to over the coming winter. Of course, like today, there will be some exceptions.
I thank each and everyone of you who offered prayers and help to get her this far. God bless you all.
- Robert

Glad Streaker is on the mend
sorry to hear about your uncle.
Take care, bro. Yer both lookin good... well.... that hat... I gotta sleep on that one. :-D
Her accident just proves the point that no one can ever know exactly what runs through their mind. I do not know why all of a sudden she did what she did; but she wouldn't have done what she done at that moment if she had been tethered
I am sorry to hear about your Uncle Lewis. My condolences...
Featured in the Triple Name Club.
Streaker looks great.
I shall continue to pray.
on a belief we don’t believe
I'm so glad Streaker will be Ok.
Love,
Marilyn
Good to know streaker continues to mend~ =)
Very sorry to hear of your Uncle's passing.
So glad to hear that Streaker is walking on her own - it must have been really difficult for her to watch those geese fly off and not want to run after them :)
Great photos ... wishing you both a happy, warm winter :)
Yeay for streaker!!!
R.I.P. to your uncle.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle. I was away for a week.
