My youngest cat, Tiberius, loves to knead a blanket.  That's normal kitty behavior.  What's different about him is that he has to have a piece of the blanket in his mouth.

He does not bite or chew the blanket, it just has to be in his mouth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He was about a year old when we found him.  Maybe he does this because he was taken away from his mother too soon.  He will never tell.

I once had a cat that sucked on a blanket like a pacifier.

Hmmmmmm interesting. Most siamese cats will do that. Never heard of another breed doing it.

Fuzzy does this every night! I was thinking maybe because we have had him since he was three weeks old and he missed that nursing time.

He purrs the whole time he does this too and closes his eyes. He really enjoys his blankee.

when I was a kid I had a female cat that would do that and it would be any piece of fabric she could get her mouth on but mostly blankets. had never seen another one do it.

He's beautiful! The kitty I had as a child also did that...and only on one blanket, which we termed her sucky blanket. My mom's cat also does that...I think it is in place of nursing, and some just never get over that stage!

My friend had a cat that did that too, and we always thought the same thing as you... her cats mother was hit by a car when the poor little thing was just 4 weeks old.

Most of my cats have kneeded blankets, too, but I don't recall having any that sucked on the blankets.

Kitties knead because that's what they did as kittens on their momma to get the milk flowing. Why some cats like something in their mouth? I'm not sure. Perhaps it takes the place of a nipple. Or maybe it's like a child who has a pacifier or sucks their thumb.

I had a cat that did that to blankets and bathroom rugs. He would suckle it, you could hear the smacking sounds. LOL.

Your cat looks like my other cat that has since passed on. I have a picture of him on my gather in photos. Mine was a grey (blue siamese), so smart and cuddly. He had to sit on my legs, lap or back always when I was home. I don't only think your cat was taken from his mother early, I think they are really smart enough to mimick those comforting things we do too.

We had a cat, Snickerdoodles, who used to suck on blankets for comfort. And our William Oranges now loves to knead anything soft. Your kitty is adorable!

Oh my goodness, silly little fella. I had a kitty who use to suck on my arm when he was a wee little one. We found him and he was very sick for a couple weeks then he got nice and healthy and loved to purr and snuggle and suck on my arm. My Wednesday kitty has to be on my shoulder when we go to bed....purrs so loud and it's so soothing it puts ME right to sleep.

My Kitty, Silver, Would Attack Toilet Paper, I mean he would get this look on his face like the Toilet Paper had incited him to Riot and he would wiggle and attack, head shaking side to side and rip the paper into shreds.. WOW..  He had some pent up agression obviously... lol.... Syndy, who is with me as Silver Passed Away, Syndy's only habit right now is Plastic.. Anything Plastic, especially Shopping Bags, she will chew on, and attempt to swallow.. Bless her Heart, I have to hide all Plastic Items.

that is real cute. My cat does that too, he was also a stray. We found him when he was only a month or 2 old. I think it is some kind of comfort thing!

He's very sweet. It must satisfy his need to suckle. I agree...he must've been taken away from his mom too soon.
