Where I learned to do OOB Photos

I've had a few people make comments on my OOB (Out of Bounds) photo here on Gather:

I learned how to do this on Wetcanvas, an artists community website that also has a photo section.  Here is the thread that I found the technique:

And, here is the link to the tutorial I used.  I used it with Gimp and it worked pretty well with it, just missing one little thing, which I was able to work around.

When you reached this page, which is on Flickr, the tutorial is set out like a slide show.  You can click on the first one and use the slideshow on the right side to click through each set.

I did it! I did it! I did it!!! Going to post it now!!!! Wow, was that ever hard for me! I especially had a hard time on page 18 of the Serrator's tutorial. For some reason, I wasn't able to move that layer where it was supposed to go. I figured out something else ~ kind of a workaround ~ and made a third transparent layer. Finally got it after that. I almost gave up! Whew!

Yeah, there's a lot of steps, but they make fun photos. It's not something I can pull right out of my hat at any time.

Thanks for all the comments. I might attempt to do this in Elements, I have 2.0. But, I don't think all the tools that I need to do this are there. I can play around with it and figure this out.

Replying to your comment:Wow, it's really cold where you are. It's 53 degrees now and it's 7:37PM. I can't remember the coldest I've felt, but it was way below zero. I've been in heat as high as 120.
I see you are in CA. I used to live in Stockton, graduated from high school out there. I remember some hot days out there! But I sure liked it! :)
