Good morning, friends and writers!
Let's try something new today.
I must admit, I'm tired of editing for months on end. Sure, it's the natural extension of writing a dozen books - and every new book I write means there's another editing job looming on the horizon. Seems like there's not nearly enough time for just fun writing anymore. You know what I mean: that wonderful experience where the story gushes from you in bursts of color and glorious action. Mmm. That's the best.
I just want to soak in some color and write something fresh and new. I'm craving it, badly, and I think this morning we all deserve a few moments to stop, think, and write something deeply satisfying.
Would you like to participate?
Here's a haiku I wrote last year, with an accompanying photo.

Red berries
Cold with morning dew
Quench my thirst

Succulent
berries call to me.
Taste me please.

Do the any of the following images inspire your writer's soul?
If Haiku interests you, try your hand at it. Post your work today or next Saturday, and we'll all bask in the beauty of your words. Or something like that! ;o) Let us know which image inspired your poem.
Remember, if you want to try a haiku, use either of the following formats (in syllables):

Sky reflected in stream
Still morning water
Reflecting glorious sun
Also stills my soul
- Rhetta A.
Perfect inversion
A blameless sky at my feet
Today, I'll touch it
- SW Vaughn

Salmon poppies in early morning
Fluttery and pink
Lifting flirty twirling skirts
Dancing a can can
Ah, the wild glory
A field of salmon poppies
So extravagent!
- Rhetta A
Like pink tissue bowls
Holding berried cabernet
Raising us a toast
Salmon poppies sing
Delicate pink and black songs
Refreshed I am now
Laughing pink poppies
Gaily dancing on the breeze
Pick me, pick me please!
- Bobbi K.

Light through windows, courtesy of grandson, Gordie (4)
It's blue out, Papa!
Come and see the rainbow here,
Colors all around.

Johnson's blue geranium
Innocent blue face...
Look closely, see the pink sword
She whispers, "En Garde!"
- Patricia F.,

Foggy field at dawn
Pale blue fog hangs low
Asks the field, "Why must I go?"
Farewell, sighs the grass.

Roses in afternoon sun
Day has come and gone
Her roses swallow the light
Hold it there for me

Winter sunrise
Feathered sky
Hills gilded in pink
Wake my soul

Abandoned doorway
Come home soon
Wayward family.
I wait here.
- Patricia F.,
"He went out to get some kindling," Mary said, looking through the clouded window at a robin on a branch. "Never came back. Just left the barrel there on the stoop." Her knarled hands lay in her lap like nesting birds."But he'll come home again. I'll just wait here. He can't be too much longer."
"Miss Mary?" A voice rattled the windows of her mind. "It's about time you got out of bed. Breakfast is getting cold. And there's Bingo today down in the Rec Room."
Mary closed her eyes against the light. The robin tapped at her window, begging to be let in.
- Patricia F.,
On a final note - if poetry isn't your thing, feel free to whip up a flash fiction piece, or perhaps the first chapter in your next novel. Or a lovely dialogue based on someone in or near the scene of the image. We're ready! Now get busy, writers!
And as always, write like the wind!

Astonishingly bright writing evincing a clean community spirit, but those IMAGES have scattered my plans like so many drupelets jumping off the berries to swim in the glass-like waters of San Franciso Bay!!
Which is, ummm, about a 90 second stroll from the back door of our beautiful new 50 year old trailer.
I shall be singing Berry Happy to Be Alive as I walk my cat to the shore, to watch the lazy Sun hoist itself over the tip of Mount Diablo, across the Bay where Jack London and his Oyster Pirates berthed an event-filled century ago.
PEACE my Friends to BE!!
I rated the article a 10 even though it overall made my feel like a lazy excuse for a writer, due to the casual manner in which you describe writing lots of books.
Also since this my first foray into the community, I am thrilled to observe the potential and the possibilities here, those pictures were just the jump-start I needed to get busy after working late, a double shift, sleeping a half shift, and being a shiftless kind of musician who loves carpentry but would rather be fondling guitars, gals and the odd keyboard.
Looking forward to reading your stories or articles, where can I find some?
And I missed that your name is Aaron, that's my Brother/ Roomate's name!!
Peace Aaron!

Wonderful images, Aaron.

Incredible pictures, Aaron. You are so talented, my friend.

So I came inside to relax, and look what I found!!! You folks did me proud, wow! And you, Pat, look what you created! I thank you all for your lovely comments and work. I'm thrilled! Just posted them in the main body of the article, and I'll keep checking all week to see what else you come up with. Don't be shy - we're not here to judge. Just to encourage your creative muse to let loose and have fun!
Thanks, everyone, and come back often to see what else we've added. ;o)
So nice to drop by.
Mmm...that abandoned door reminds me of one that once welcomed me into the heart of someone special. But it was shut on my face when someone more prosperous walked through that door after it received a fresh coat of paint.
Hey, Kathryn! Lovely to see you here. Hope all is well!
Pat - I'm so glad! We seemed to have unleashed a flurry of beautiful words in you!!! Thanks so much for sharing your gift with us.

Thanks, Carl. It's a great find.
Hey, Diana. Me, too. I had a beautiful one I wrote on the way to work about the sun hugging the horizon and gliding along with me to work. But it disappeared before I got home. LOL!
Roaa, Sharon, and Jennifer - thanks! Glad you enjoyed them. ;o)
