Life has changed, the old place exchanged for a new one. We've shed the skin of shallow breathing and closeness for another, where orion's belt is in full view. Our new/old house is unliveable, going through the process of peeling back layers to the original bones. A motel is substituting for home until the project is finished.
During this time of transition, I spend part of the day taking the dogs on excursions around the area, exploring canyons, old dirt roads, and mountain passes. The mornings are for chores, routine tasks of one sort or another, contacting old accounts, updating information and working on assignnments. The afternoons have become my salvation. I load up the dogs along with a big jug of water and water bowl, a map, and plenty of gas. I have favorite haunts, places that have a hold on me, something magical that goes beyond words. Over the next few months I'll post photo essays of the most exotic landscapes I encounter. I invite you along for the ride.
Today, I'm posting photographs from the Bisti, which are badlands in New Mexico-- close to the Four Corners where Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado meet. The colors, textures, and shapes keep me coming back time and time again.

Yes! We're in Camp Durango now, so named by me for its wonderful winter and summer camp qualities. The diverse landscapes surrounding the town are a big bonus, one that I plan to enjoy as much as possible. Let me know if you have an future plans to swing this direction.
I think of you often and wonder how you are doing...
I miss you my dear friend.
Thank you for this!
Have you Bryce by any chance or Cedar Breaks? Zion? Love that area and its been years...
Nice shots..nice wide angle lens...what is it?
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, the top two are taken with a wide angle lens, 10-22mm canon. The bottom two are with a 28-200 mm lens by canon. The camera is a 40D canon.
Blessings ~
