Christmas Day
©Robert C Burnham
There's tinsel on the tree that's sparkling
And the mistletoe is hung just fine
A 16-pound roaster's in the oven
Dad brought home a special bottle of wine
There's chestnuts roasting on the fire
Conversation and eggnog with friends
Children are waking up from their sugar-plum dreams
How we wish this day would never end
But even without the tinsel
Or the family feast that's about to be served
Even without presents or sugar-plums
We still receive much more than we deserve
God gave us His child, to a virgin born
That's the real celebration on Christmas Day
A child who grew to offer salvation
A child to wash all our sins away
So God bless you sweet Jesus
And happy birthday to you today
You are the gift that gives forever
God has blessed us all this Christmas Day
