Several years ago, my husband and I took the trip of a lifetime -- an African safari. We saw so many amazing things, but the most fascinating sight was a mother cheetah carrying her fresh prey to her two cubs, and the three cheetahs sharing the kill. The two baby cheetahs were so small, with fuzzy hair sticking up everywhere, but still they tussled with each other and their mother over the food. We watched and watched, until the prey was consumed and three very happy, very full cheetahs curled up for a nap. We were so thrilled to have the chance to capture those moments on film.
These are not those pictures.
Those pictures were stolen, along with everything else in our camera case, two days later from our hotel in Uganda (we moved on from Tanzanian cheetahs to Ugandan gorillas -- the gorillas were not suspected in the camera theft).
These pictures are from a zoo. They give only a hint of the beauty of the wild cheetah. I am sharing them here, and longing for our missing photos.
Enjoy. (And pray the Gather Gods are merciful on my attempts to link).

You wear the crown this week.
You will send me another salute when I publish part 2 of this article. Gather ate half the links to the Cheetah photos, so I predict there will be a Cheetah Photos - part 2 article later this week.
