Stepping Back In Time
(Setting Kyra's Clocks)
Kyra's clock faces from Grand Central Station kept calling me ... so I picked them up and took them for a ride through the editing software. I may get away with this since she seems to currently be way too occupied with whooping up on Spartan to come clean my clock ... (-;

During her editing of the clock photo Kyra had used an image sharpening tool. The results of sharpening the image added a pebbled effect to the image that was most pronounced in the areas of the clock faces. This reminded me of images from the darkroom when film was push processed resulting in a more noticeable graininess of the photos. Push processing was often done to film shoot at night or other low light conditions. Since these are antique (or period replicas) clocks at the venerable train station, I thought an interesting image version would be using the pebbled grain of the sharpened image to convert from colour to B&W, making the image more of a reminiscence on time gone by ...

Let us take one more step back in time ... this image lends itself to the warm nostalgic sepia tones of an aged photograph plucked from great-aunt Millie's roll top desk ...
