I heard a little blurb on the news yesterday about the fact that the professional football teams donate money to political parties. The newscaster named the main teams and which parties they favored. Their donations were shown on a graph that indicated rather small sums of money donated. It made a sort of short picket fence at the bottom of the graph.
Then he came to the Chargers and Wow! Their donation went almost to the top of the graph –.many times more than any other team. And they had donated it to the Republicans! I didn’t catch how much their donation was. With money like that to give away, they should be building their own new stadium that they want so badly.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. This is a military town with the huge naval base and a marine air base at Miramar. In my experience military people tend to be Republicans. I was both in the navy and later part of a navy family for 34 years. I don’t know what excuse the rest of the town has. Now, at every election I know my vote will be for naught because we Democrats are very much outnumbered. At least we used to be. With so many Republicans beginning to doubt the current modus operandi of their leaders I suspect they are leaving the party just as I did about 10 years ago when they were badgering Clinton. But, as I have heard at least two former congressmen say recently, "We didn’t really leave the party. The Republican Party left us."
I have thought that I should have changed a long time before that because the Democrats advocate more closely my philosophy about the government protecting the middle and lower classes from the greed of business giants. I think that is what President Obama is trying to do and I'll keep backing him all the way.

It is a party that rarely works in the best interest of the Average American Citizen. You must remember that tax breaks for America's wealthiest citizens and corporations is their motto.
I am one who believes that no sports enterprise should ever be subsidized by taxpayer funds. Let them move if they don't get their way.
Seattle did just that. There is no longer a NBA team in that town. Now Oklahoma will bare the burden of financing a basketball team via taxpayer funds.
These enterprises earn more money than one could ever realize. It's time for them to finance their own operations.
However, those on the Right will never condemn such a waste of taxpayer money. It's more important to them than providing affordable health care to the millions of Americans lacking it.
Their priorities are so out of focus.
Thank you for posting to our group, Barack Obama's Presidential Appointments, Bills and Policies.
