In Detroit, we have a museum dedicated to the T. Airmen. I have met some of them at speaking engagements and one of our former mayors was an airman. They are good natured and cool older men!

I remember my father talking about his experiences. He told me to read Norman Mailer's The Naked and the Dead in order to get a feel for what being in a war is truly like.
And we can't forget how all of the Vietnam vets were mistreated when they returned home. Add what those who serve/served in Iraq and Afghanistan are going through it's all FUBAR.

I cried at the end of the movie Glory watching the regiment of all of the black men dying along with their white leader. It was based on true events.
