The Secret Life of Bees

(I wrote an article on this movie about a week ago but Gather's techno-bug wouldn't post it. This was before the tragedy actor/singer Jennifer Hudson is dealing with.).

Have you seen the movie The Secret Life of Bees?
I saw it about 2 weeks ago and enjoyed it very much. I have yet to read the book but my sister says it is good, also.

As tasty (pun intended) as the movie was, I (of course) found some things I feel needed a bit more tweaking. Probably because we tend to dissect movies in my family no matter how much we enjoy them.

Without revealing my critique, I'd like to see what you think of the movie.

For those who have yet to see it, Queen Latifa (Dana Owens), Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keyes and Dakota Fanning star. They all put in wonderful performances.

I give this movie a thumbs up and much snaps!

I didn't see it. Is it anything like that 70s movie The Swarm ??? That was hilarious. I like a good comedy.

Queen Latifa is such a fun talent. I first fell in love with her a million years ago when I bought some shoes and got a free tape cassette of a remix (for the 90s!!!) of David Bowie's song "Fame" and on the B side was her rapping with it, and I hate hate HATE rap, but she was marvelously joyous and delightful !!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is watch the original copy because the boot-legged copy I TRIED to watch had about four people in it that is not getting paid. People were walking, talking and coughing really loud on the boot-legged. I'm going to see it this weekend. And I love the cast of the movie so I'm sure to enjoy it without the interruptions.
Prayers going up for the Hudson family. I absolutely love Jennifer.

No, just the trailers which I liked. I am a huge Queen Latifa fan as well. She's smart and talented and can be trusted to choose good properties.

Peter, it actually has real bees playing an important part!

Bootlegged! For shame Otelia! The visuals are too important for a boot copy anyway.

I am going to see it tommorrow on the request of an elderly lady who seems to need a friend and I am so happy to be able to oblige her request. I hope it will stimulate some good conversation.

Just to let you know I did go see the movie and I have to say it is unlike most movies these days. I d like to read the book and decide if they did a good movie about it. Honestly the movie did not stimulate too much conversation but it was interesting considering the movie does reflect much of what is going on about racism.

You have indeed now piqued my curiousity with Janey's comment. I have no clue who Jennifer Hudson even is or what she's dealing with, never read the book or saw the movie. But I absolutely adore Queen Latifah! She has never done anything that wasn't first rate, I'll have to check out one or the other soon now!
