Chapter 17
It was about 6:00p when I dropped Kim off and I wanted to talk to Maya for a little while because there was a frat party that night and I knew that I didn’t want to miss another one. I was with Maya last night and I didn’t want the fellas to start clowning me for always being with my girl.

WJZU screeched with activity—phones rang, voices boomed out messages, people zigged and zagged. As the number one station on the Eastern seaboard, it was all in a day’s work.
The double doors banged open. An imposing, white-haired figure stood just inside, arms akimbo, his aura nearly visible to the naked eye. It wasn’t that he was extremely handsome, because he wasn’t. The timeworn face was often described as plainer than plain and the paunchy body, definitely not pin-up material. However, it was the POWER emanating from Tab McGrifth which made people take notice…just as they did now.
Prologue:
“Mallory are you okay?” Marguerite Peters asked anxiously from behind the ecru colored door trimmed with gold, at the Oak Lawn Hilton Hotel.
Mallory sat on atop the lowered toilet seat. Her voluminous, white Chantilly lace, wedding gown, billowed around her like a cloud, engulfing her petite body. “I’m fine Mami, Give me a minute.” Mallory answered, with a false note of gaiety in her voice.
A woman’s wedding is usually one of the happiest days of her life. And today should have no exception for Mallory. She’d dated Wesley Dubois, her husband to be, over the past four and a half years. During three of those years she dated other men on the side, without Wesley’s knowledge of course. Mallory didn’t explore the reasons deeply and always returned to Wesley.

Madison
My name is Madison McIntosh, I’m from Gainesville Florida , and this story is about me and the bad choices I made while trying to find love. Whatever you do, don’t let the bad guys turn you against me. They are very clever at twisting things around to their favor.
You see, I lost my mom before I could ever lay eyes on her the day I was born. Sometimes I’d still get angry at her because she was warned not to get pregnant after she nearly died with a previous failed pregnancy, but yet she insisted on having a child-and that child was me. It’s a tough call; her life or my existence, either way we both lost, and I don’t think Daddy ever got over it.
Excerpt: I’m Telling
I squeezed my eyes real tight, but I couldn’t get what I had just seen out of my mind. My stepfather’s face in between my twin sister’s legs.
Even with my eyes closed I could still see them. And I could smell them too.
A funny smell. Kind of like sweat and something else. And I could hear them whispering and scrambling around like they were trying to grab up their clothes.

Prologue
Single, Saved, But Surely Not Satisfied
If one more married person had explained to me how blessed I was to be single, I was going to scream. What was so blessed about it? No one to play “footsie” with over an evening dinner. No warm hands to playfully pull a remote control from while watching my favorite show. Not even a soul to pull the covers off of me at night. “Where was the blessing?”, I wondered. In those moments, I usually flashed a superficial smile as I thought to myself how easy it must have been for them to tell me how content I should be when they were going home to a warm body and a handsome man.
