Those of you, who, like me, have aging parents, will understand this story all too well. My parents are both 83 years old, and live 150 miles away, so I worry sometimes. My only sibling lives out of state.
This week has been a rough one for my dad. It began on Monday. When he left the eye doctor's office with drops in his eyes, he misjudged the curb depth and fell, literally, on his face, on the hard pavement. He is still bruised, swollen and sore, but I am so grateful to some kind-hearted people who came to his aid like angels.
When Dad fell, a man came right over and helped him up. He told Dad to lean against the nearest car and hold onto it, while he went to get his own car to drive my dad to the emergency room. This man was a total stranger, but an angel.
A woman in the waiting room, another angel, loaned Dad her cell phone to call my mom. Their next-door neighbor drove my mom to the hospital. Yet another nice person retrieved Dad's car and brought it to the ER door for them.
Today, the catalytic converter fell off Dad's car on a busy road. He went back to retrieve it and, since it was too hot to touch, he kicked it to the side of the road. Once again, an angel came along. A young man with heavy work gloves carried the hot, metal contraption to Dad's car and put it in the trunk for him.
Angels all around! God bless each and every one of you for doing for my parents when I could not. I am praying for all of you that, when you are in need, an angel will come to your aid. We're going down tomorrow to give my folks some help. I hope we'll get a chance to help you, whoever you are.
Note: if you've read my article about Dad, you'll see an example of paying it forward. Kindness begets kindness. http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474977373619&nav=MyGather">MyDad-It'sOnlyaCar

Patty, I thought of the same thing when this happened. My dad has always been the kind of person to help others and it seems that he is reaping what he has sowed.
Have a magical day
Angel
:-)
I am glad that there was someone there to help your father when he was in need. I know that strangers have assisted me on many occasions when I needed help -- and I try to pass it on whenever the opportunity arises.
This is a great article. I love to hear of people being kind. The news is always so depressing.
will see me carrying things up the stairs step by step and bring them up to my door for me, there are a lot of good people out there, and Bless them all, and I hope you dad is okay and that your Mom is taking all this well, Take care of them and you Jan.
