I remember hearing about how people were late for work, missed their ride or had to go back home for something. I would say that was God at work too! Don't you think?! Trying to keep as many away from there as he could?!

I guess he just dropped the ball at the moment when he was needed the most, i.e. when the planes actually hit the buildings.

Joann, you hit the nail on the head. God is everywhere around us, but we rarely give Him credit and rarely recognize Him. Free will is a powerful ability that is easily misused. To say that God was not there when the planes hit would be incorrect. The problem with our free will is not just that we misuse it but that in our arrogance we start to claim to know the will of God. All that happens in this world and every other place in the universe, regardless of whether we view it as good or ill, is known by God and could be controlled by God. Whether He takes an active role or not is entire up to Him and how the outcome plays into His plan. We then say "How can a loving God do this or do that?" I don't' know - but I don't know God's mind. Where was God during 9/11? Right there win the middle of everything, where He always is, waiting for the prayers and actions of His people. Beyond that I can't say.

Considering that if we believe in God, then from what I have learned God was everywhere. He was with the people on the planes, in the Pentagon, with our President, with the sad people who plotted these attacks, with Bin Laden, ... He was and is everywere at all times. Which means he was also with you and me. Let us not forget, If you believe in God, then you must believe that we have all chosen our own paths and God is right there beside us all the way.

God was everywhere...inspiring heroism, saving the lives of the inordinate amount of people who did not go to work at the Twin Towers that day, saving my friend's son-in-law when he set his briefcase on the conference table and said, "I'll get the donuts," coming out of the shop as plane #1 slammed into the first tower. Personally speaking, God was comforting me, that day.

Chilling. I've heard and read reports that there was not even close to the usual amount of people at work that day. People told stories of how they were delayed, over and over again, resulting in a much lower number of them in the buildings.

911 woke me up to a lot of things. My perception of God definitely changed.

God was there in every single soul who was a direct participant in that horrible act of malice. I can remember thinking as I wept, that I could feel His immense love through all that pain. God is the song that breezes through our souls everyday, if we would but listen.

A fine article but the question should be: where were the FBI since 1993, right after the first attempt to topple these twin giant buildings - saving God the bother and anguish.
