Namaste,
I recently joined Gather and am delighted with the discussion generated by the first article that I posted ("Why Are We Here?"). I also have a MySpace blog and have been trying to get that sort of discussion going there, without much success. There are some serious shortcomings on MySpace but there's no need to go into that. What I like about it, though, is the number of people involved and the sharing of information. Granted, many of them are looking to hook up sexually with someone or promote a product, service or narrow ideology. But there are also many people who are seeking to create a better world. They have come on board two blogs that I created on MySpace and I invite all interested "Gatherers" to check them out. If they appeal to you, please connect there too. I believe you'll have to create a MySpace blog in order to do that but it's a simple process. This will enable us to share even more ideas, information and inspiration, spreading it even farther throughout the world.

I'll look for you there.

I am a teacher in Michigan interested in transforming the world to a better place myself. I have written a book that I am trying to either get published or will self publish towards those ends. I am seeking to help us English speaking American people get out of a cultural rut that we are in thinking its grand. That rut is militarism and the hoarding of wealth living competitivly. My approach is following our language to its roots and looking anthropologically at these roots in Germanic viking culture. I call the book This Tribe of Mine:A Story of Anglo Saxon Viking Culture in America. It is a two part small book that first looks at who we are and then looks at who we could be if we moved towards our higher human potential. I have had no luck finding an agent I give up on that score and basically I have given up on hoping for a publisher to pick it up. I sent the synopsis to Noam Chomsky who took time to read and said "Very interesting ideas I don't know of anything like it." Do you know the roots of our days of the week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thurasday, Friday?
Michael, I've done nothing lately on MySpace mainly because the majority of people did not seem interested in what I wanted to write about. I guess I won't give up on it though.
George, I self-published my first one through AuthorHouse, an online publisher. I'm now looking for an agent who can help me sell the rights to another publisher, along with the novel I've written -- which is available online through me right now. Writing is the easy part. Sales have been OK for both, but I'm limited in the area of marketing.
