A Gentle Rain was the first of Deborah Smith's books that I have read but it will not be the last. I loved the book as well as the authors writing style. I was drawn into the lives of the characters from page one. The book left me hungering for more!
A Gentle Rain is about love, dedication, loyalty and the gift to give even when we do not receive. It is a book about loving and connecting with someone who is different. It is a book of life and death. It is a book of giving all we have to someone we love without anything in return.
The story begins with the death of both Kara's parents. While going through their papers she finds that she was adopted. This was a truth that they failed to tell her. This rich young lady set out to find her birth parents. Her journey leads her to more than just her birth parents. She finds love, respect and a place where she was welcome. She felt a sense of belonging even though nobody knew she was rich.
A Gentle Rain is more that a love story. It is a book where so many of the characters find healing to their troubled lives. It is a book were people who are different show just how special and worthy they are to the world which we live in.
I give "A Gentle Rain" 5 Stars
I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who likes to read books about real people and how they find peace and love in their lives.

Nice review, and the author sounds pretty interesting. You don't see too many authors from Applachia.
Shannon,
It is advertised as a love story but it is not the sappy kind of love story that Harlequin puts out. Kara finds out where here parents are and she goes to see what they are like and why they gave her up. They were "slow". She falls in love with them at the very beginning as do they with her. They are working on a ranch. She also ends up falling in love with the ranch's owner.
During the story they save a horse that was being sent to make dog food out of. They win a major race with the horse and it is really good. ....
Um, Appalachia...
Thanks for the review.. I am going to have to check out her book.
It is a really good book. It takes place on a ranch.
