I am a chain reader. As soon as I finish one book, I start on another. Half my bookshelf is filled with books that I haven't read...yet.
As much as I like to read, I just don't have time enough to do it as often as I like. In fact, I'd say about 95% of my book reading is done in the bathroom. From this point on, I understand if you never want to borrow a book from me.
Over the past week, I've been making an effort to sit down on something besides a toilet and read for longer than it takes to...you know. In doing so, I've been burning through books like mad. I just read the last half of a 700 page novel in two nights.
I have found that I enjoy the books a lot more when I read in large sections, as opposed to a dozen or so pages at a time. It's the difference between sitting down to watch a whole movie, or pausing every five minutes to go do something else.
Some books are written on a level that you can start and stop randomly and not miss anything, and some are written in a way that you just can't find a good stopping point. I want to read more of those books.

I, too, am a chain reader. I never don't have a book going. I finish one, then immediately start another.
I agree that a book is best read in very large chunks rather than a few pages at a time. But I also agree that there's always something else i have to do, so i seldom can spend two hours at a time reading. That's the only positive about getting sick: I read more.
