What's the last good book you read?

I just finished Old Man's War - It was pretty good - I have a review written for it in my posts. I am currently reading Wethering Heights. I fell asleep to it last night :)

Evan's Castle by Tracy Fabre and I put a review of it up here at Gather.

I just recently finished The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett- Historical fiction,England, Medieval times. Great story, and now I am starting World Without End the sequel.

I heard those Follett books were good but really loooooooooong. I may check them out eventually. I've read a couple of his WWII era books and liked them.

Pure text- Lunatic Cafe by Laurell K. Hamilton: an Anita Blake vampire hunter book from before the fifty page sex scenes era, featuring a bunch of nasty shapeshifters.

Comics- The fist trade of The Immortal Iron Fist, titled ironically enough, The Last Iron Fist Story: Marvel Martial Arts Mayhem at its finest.

The Scourge of God, book 2 in a new series called the Sun Rise Lands by S.M. Stirling. Picture an America where suddenly electricity/gunpowder/steam does not work anymore...the world actually collapses and this book follows the rebirth of it.

Picture medieval plus /19th/20th century knowledge and see what happens. The rebirth of the British Empire, the establishment of the Catholic Church (as a broader minded 20th century version, not the bad old medieval one) as much of the world's religious unifier, a Crusader Italy fighting the survivors of Islam while peacefully competing with Britain for Europe, and lots of mini states in once was the western and central US. The eastern US is a graveyard of cannibals, the Mongols are ravaging China, the Zulus/Xhosa/Matabale are creating empires in Africa, and Australia/New Zealand are forging a merchant empire across the Pacific.....
