I am an avid reader of modern horror/suspense and a long-time fan of Mr. Koontz. Not only would I devour every written word, I would read it once more and then review it. I am one of those dreaded "amateur reviewers" but check out some of my work - Review of the Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.
Thanks in advance for the opportunity.
Namaste, Wayne
I will be purchasing The Good Guy as soon as it comes out if I don't win, I will read it and then my husband will read it. I will review it here as soon as I am finished with it.
To have a signed advanced copy of a Dean Koontz book in my Dean Koontz collection would be such an honor, I just can't tell you. I have never had a signed copy of any book. This book would hold a special place on my book shelf along with the rest of my Dean Koontz books.
Thanks so much for your consideration.
1) I think I can be objective.....I'm not a groupie or clone
2) I think I'm good at reviews....if its the only thing I learned from FirstChapters, it was reading/reviewing 1,500+ author's work.
3) I Aspire to become a NYT's book reviewer (not really, but it sounded good ;-)
4) I can do a good job without sounding all sugary.
That's it
:-)
Having recently read and reviewed books from Baldacci, Hallinan, Gross and others I think this gives me the ability to analyze the novel both independently, as well as, comparatively. With each of the novels I have reviewed thus far being autographed, this one would definitely be placed on the high shelves - to keep for my grandchildren.
Here is the link to my review of "The Taking" for anyone's perusal:

More honesty: I have a daughter who devours Mr. Koontz' books the instant they hit the shelves. I certainly wouldn't mind becoming the hero of the hour in her eyes by being able to pass his latest (autographed) oevre on to her after fulfilling my reviewing duties.
And last, but not least, I'm honest.
Thanks for the opportunity....
I would love to own a copy of Dean's book that he has autographed. Can you imagaine how excited I would be to tell my frineds about owning an autographed book of Dean Koontz"s! I have a wonderful personal collection of books and would love to have this one to add to my collection.
I want to review Dean Koontz latest novel because I am a huge fan. I just finished the Odd Thomas series and loved it as well as having read everything he has ever published. It his excellent style of story telling and style that keeps me hooked. I place him above Stephen King on my list of MUST reads.
I can normally finish a Koontz novel in 24 hrs. I have lost alot of sleep with his books but never ever regretted it.
The autographed copy would make me a very happy fan and would look nice on my Dean Koontz shelf. I would cover it and dust it and take very good care of it and grab it on my way out the door if there were ever a house fire. Assuming the family and pets are safely out. I would always keep it on the top shelf in case of a flood and keep it covered in plastic in case of a leaking roof. During a tornado warning I would put it in my safe and tuck it away under the house. On the plastic cover that I would keep it in , I would place a label that said "Thesaurus", so no one would ever suspect the treasure I concealed. This way if my home were ever broken into the book would be safe as no self respecting thief would be caught dead with a Thesaurus. I would be a good owner of such a valued literary treasure as an autographed copy of Dean Koontz's latest novel, "The Good Guy".
To be able to read it before it's available to the general public would be so much icing on the cake!
I am a fairly good writer, and I would be thrilled to do a review of the book for my Gather friends. I'm certain "The Good Guy" would join the rest of Dean Koontz's books as being one that I can't put down, therefore the deadline would not be an issue!
Yes, I would say there is more than a creep show going on between the covers of a Dean Koontz novel. Anyone who reads Koontz doesn't need me to tell them how great his stories are, but I'd love to try.
I've done several reviews for the Book Review group so I've got some experience. But back to Dean Koontz; an advance copy of his book is a most exciting opportunity and would LOVE to add it to my Dean Koontz collection!
Thank you for the opportunity.
And Paul, if you are doing it for the book alone (for your daughter) I'll give you mine if I review it....I'm not into that; and I 'owe' you one :-) And, for kids, signed books inspires them in some way....makes the author seem more real, like they could do it too. I gave signed copies of Anne McCaffery's books to my nieces when they were young, and they still have them.....20 years later. It got them into really reading and writing.
:-)
