Author: Linda Crew
Another in the subgenre of kiddie lit- cross cultural stories of young people who have gone through suffering - war or otherwise.
The heroine is a teenager who escaped from Cambodia, spent various months on the boats and eventually was sponsored to come to the USA.
She has to deal with the difference between her home culture and that of a typical high school. She is living with her aunt and uncle and two young cousins - she had been sent to stay with them in Cambodia before Phnom Penh fell to the Khymer Rouge.
As usual, there is a romantic involvement and all that that entails.
It read well and is well written - I recommend it.
