This book was published when the author was 15 years old. She wrote it when she was 13 - it took 6 months.
The beginning of the book is much less sophisticated than the end - showing her growth and maturation as an author.
It is my style of book - a search and fantasy. Magical horses, good and evil, magical beings, fun.
Of course there it is an allegory - the worth of friends, hope keeps us alive, all that.
It's a sweet book and I am looking forward to the next novel by this young writer. The reading level is about 4th grade and the violence is minimal, so the book is appropriate for teen and tween readers. It has enough holding power for adults, also...
