Ah, I have to now make a confession -- I lied. As I went to put my new book on the shelf, I found this one already there, so I have read a Lawrence Block before, but enough time has passed, I had forgotten. But, I do remember this was an excellent book; the details have faded, as things tend to do in my fuzzy mind, but in this book there is the bad guy who starts off visiting a man on death row for 3 horrible murders he is innocent of, this "visitor" supposedly being a psychologist trying to help him out, then sticking around to witness his lethal injection. Meanwhile, the hero, Matthew Scudder, has agreed to investigate a suspicious online lover of a friend. But people start dying, and the victims start getting closer to Matthew. This was a very suspenseful, well written book. Hit Parade was good, but this was better.
