Shall it be another day
Like the last one or before
With cold blast of nevermore
Staring with melancholy
Through the frames of my window
Having dust I keep inside

Maybe there are elements
Wanting another comeback
Special days to reappear
Flourishing in innocence
Fantasies in blue sky nears
In nights so soft and tender

From momentary spaces
Dream and hope priorities
Listing and cataloging
Worn down pathways form the band
Peter Pan comes a-calling
Remember when dawn begins

Days with a new avenue
Jigsaw pieces fit somehow
Sunday drives go anywhere
Breezing along without care
Feeling each destination
Of thankfulness and goodwill

The gate has not lock or key
Doors say hello from both sides
The sky may fall, but one, two, three
Sunny smile greets each dawn
Wiping feet on welcome mat
A friendly nod, friendly wink

That was fabulous - I hear what you mean when "the dust stays inside" - that so zen, and so true.

"The gate has not lock or key
Doors say hello from both sides"

But that was my favorite and I don't even know why.

I really like this poem.
I like the "gate has not lock or key" and "the doors say hello from both sides"
This sounds like where I live in my heart and in reality. (rural Ne.)

RYN: Yeah I agree, Palin as president is much scarier than even if all the republican smears against Obama.... I don't think they have a chance now, but we'll have to see if McCain can rally in a week or so. I hope not. I'm ready for some change!

Good poem William, I feel that way sometimes, only different. A prisioner with no lock or key, doors opening on all sides, but the past is over and we have to go our limit. Sometimes that limit is just the four walls with no locks.

Without the sunny smile I see each morning I would freeze with fear then. Feel like the gate was locked. Funny how the loving smile can release the chains that bind us. Thankful each day that we can still go to places we once did.

This really speaks to me for how I feel right now. I'm caught up in the early stanzas of melancholy and wondering if the doors will even open. I'm grateful for the optimism of the ending and hope that I can find that optimistic attitude myself.
