Although sleep keeps calling me back
The feel of whiskers on my face beckons
I try softly brushing them away
They disappear but are back again in seconds
I turn over and hear a meow
While paws wrap around my knees
A furry body suddenly nestles against me
Gee, I hope I don't get fleas
Warm and cozy, I drift back to sleep
I am awakened to the sound of pacing
Should I ignore it and hope it goes away
I groan and sit up with my heart racing
I crack open my eyes and take a peep
There he is just pacing round the bed
Just waiting for me to give the nod
And up he jumps just barely missing my head
Great! The other one is up now
The bed is a bouncing
One is just jumping up and down
While the other takes a trouncing
I quietly slip off the bed and pad down the hall
Blanket and alarm clock in hand
I barely make it to the couch
While feline feet run after me in demand

Lovely poem, Angie.
I get that people love cats. However, one of the advantages of being a dog person is that they understand Alpha female... We all know who rules in my household. That would be the chica that buys the food...and provides the scoobie snacks. Dogs are funny like that.
