I like your haiku. We aren't there yet. We are having leaves fall due to the extreme temperatures and lack of rain. Even so, I regret already fall approaching.
I like the poem. We are suffering in Atlanta, hitting 100+ most days this month. Yet, It is much easier on us than the horrible flooding in the midwest. I hope we all have a glorious fall. I can almost smell football in the air :-)
We are already panicking, some of the trees in our neighborhood are turning colors. We are wondering if it's the harbinger of fall or just an anomaly. We are hoping for the latter, of course.
I know you didn't mean this (well, I THINK you didn't mean this) but reading your poem reminded me of how quickly children grow up, bursting wildly and erratically through life like brilliant fireworks before reaching maturity and then old age.
Very nice poem. Our maple trees didn't grow their leaves to full size before they turned brown and started falling off at the beginning of Summer. The leaves are usually the size of dinner plates. We are in the foothills of California and this has happened sporadically the last few of years.
Very lovely haiku. And at Virginia Beach, VA, the weather was 70 degrees today, sun shining brightly, waves actually had white caps and spray instead of the rolling summer waves. I love the beach at this time of year...so for me, the smell of Fall is my favorite time of the year. Smell the crinkly leaves and crisp air -- soon to be.
