Gyrations of the fire made me smile
Insinuating alacrity
Methodically intent almost frenzied
Feeding voraciously.
The orgiastic feasting would too soon
Ebb in ferocity
Embers glow awhile bemoan
Piles of cooling ashes
As an observer out to critique
This archetype of warmth and light
In cavalier fashion consuming
The very basis granting it life.
These avaricious flames appeared
The visible equivalent
Of intangible desires natural to all
And consumptive obsessions.
Irascible desire vegetates
Though substance of fancy depletes,
Embers glowing after a dancing fire,
Are recollections lingering late.
As those paradoxes of chick and egg,
And the seed and its’ parent tree,
What ranks first in retrospect?
Anonymity or the wish to be?

I found especially the second verse to be great poetry. Well done.

Amy - fire, one of the five elements. As fascinating as the Creator Himself - enigmatic, beautiful, without compare. Thank you for the compliment.
I get the feeling that I have read this poem of yours before. Is it a re-post?
Your reflections are wonderful, going from personal to the universal. All those questions ...and some answers will dance before us, others vanish in their own fires.
Elegant and thought provoking poem, Vinay.
Laurun - delighted by the musical score. Thank you.
Charity - much obliged dear friend by your wonderful critique. Thank you.
