two word challenge-remembering others

He was my friend

From beginning to end

There was a war

on a foriegn shore

It was not ours

it was between the super powers

We could not win

but they went in

to keep it there

and that they did

no one questioned why they went

nor did they question how much was spent

they did their jobs

and fought a war they could not win

40 years have come and gone

my friend he died in a noble cause

and we now we're on another shore

and young soldiers die by the score

I don't agree with any war

but I thank the soldier on foriegn shore

for remembering others

when they go to war

And in my prayers they will remain

for remembering others

when they go to war.

So on this day

I stand and say

lets all join in

remembering others

that went to war.

Wow. If this is real, but the poem is a metiphor, then the "I", who ever "I" is, should do something, not just morn. You should write another poem about that "I" doing something call: two word challenge-remembering others II

Goverments rage war for profit and politics,
Citizens watch wars for ideals,
Soldiers fight wars for peace and freedom , for the friends and families they left behind.

I feel the same way. My Grandfather and Grampa are war heros who passed away this last year and a few months before. My B-I-L(Brother-In-Law) was a soldier, but my sis got him to get out before he was sent over seas (To the Gov't's slaughterhouse for soldiers) I can understand going in after the B-terds who struck us, but we should have minded our own business after that. They were all set to set up three separate city-states in Iraq, but NO, Bush wouldn't settle for anything less than a democracy. They were doing fine their way. What do you guys think about having to send our loved ones just to boost our president's ego?

P.S sorry about the rant. I hate wars, especially meaningless wars being fought for the Gov't's pride.

This is a lovely poem, I am happy for you that it is featured, this deserves it and you as a veteran deserve our honor and respect. I had a son in the vietnam era thing too. Wonderful.
