Alone, in the room they sit together,
Worlds apart, but still they are the same.
Mom sits in thought, contemplating,
On what is going to be her baby's name.
Two years have passed, her child is getting older,
Mom is so proud of how her little boy has grown.
He snuggles in her arms and now is sleeping,
Playing in a dreamland of his own.
She must let go, and look away,
As tears flow freely, from her eyes.
He climbs aboard the big yellow bus,
and bravely waves to his mommy "goodbye".
Quickly time flys by, her son is now grown,
Or so he seems to think.
He has no use for his mom now,
It's parties, dope, booze, and drinks.
He only goes out partying,
With the coolest of his friends.
He has no way of knowing,
That his young life soon will end.
"A drug overdose", says the coroner,
And shakes his head in disbelief.
While mom is busy crying,
Shocked and choking in her grief.
In the start they were as one,
Until the drugs ripped him away.
So mom tries to remember him,
Like he was in his younger days.

Did you just create this out of the two word challenge or have you had it for awhile.
How close to home is this poem?
It has nothing, personsally, to do with me though.
I say, well done on the TWC!
