I know I wasn't dreaming,
though I am prone to do that;
Somewhere in the cloudiness of my mind,
I know this time it was real,
for I can close my eyes and see you
as surely as I did on that day,
standing before me, with your hair
ruffled from the wind;
I can feel my body tremble from your touch,
as you brushed my hair from my eyes, and
moved closer for a kiss....
THAT kiss...Oh, how I remember!
It was no dream, for my lips tingle
just from the thought.
I remember the way my fingers
clutched at your blue shirt, soft
it felt in these hands of mine
as I pulled you close to me.
And your voice.
How could I forget the way you
sounded when you whispered,
"Come here, my love."
It was no dream, for that sound
is ingrained into my very soul,
just as the sound of the ocean
is ingrained into my soul.
It is everlasting, and nobody
can ever take it away.
