Sending her my best. I don't blame her for not wanting to stay in the hospital. It's the most absolutely worst place to be when you're sick!

The time spent in a hospital can get quite expensive. Better, financially, to spend the least amount of time there that one can get away with. Not only that, but with all of the sterilization, the risk of contracting some stubborn and hard to treat disease is escalated.
And, then, most of us prefer to be at home with the familiar surroundings, anyway.

I see it as being a good sign that Renee is able to be at home, effectively as an outpatient. And, being happier should have a positive influence on her recovery.

I agree with you Edward. I wouldn't want to stay in there either.

I'll pray very hard for her and keep us posted.

I got a horrendous staph infection after I had breast cancer surgery. I thought the BC was bad enough. The friday after I had surgery I started to feel really sick, extreme tenderness through out my whole breast, fever and chills....what the heck? I called my surgeon and he said take some tylenol and get rest................Duhhhh....I was having rest! I was layed up in my bed thinking I was going to die. Sooooo....trusting my doctor, I did what he said, it got worse, and I put icepacks on it. I did not suspect an infection because NO ONE told me about staph at the time or what symptoms to look for... one think led to another and I decided to change the dressing...thinking it might need it, I could not pull the dressing out! I sat on the floor and cried, and cried. It hurt so much I really thought my breast was going to explod. My husband heard me and took one look at my breast and nearly fainted....Wus....anyway, it was Monday morning very early...my husband took me to my cancer oncologist...............I did not know what to do at this point. He took one look at my breast and really...I thought he was going to turn green. It was untouchable....he couldn't even pull the drain out. I started crying again. He excused himself after I told him what my surgeon told me and had left the door cracked....well.........of course, I listened to the phone call, he used the nurse's area. All I heard was this, "No...you need to get over her right now."
Ten minutes later my surgeon comes in and looks....'I am sorry.'
"I told you I had a problem...." cry...cry...cry. He did his best to apologize and in two hours I was in surgery............I was in the hospital for three days due to this. I just do not understand how anyone can get a life threatening infection when everything is supposed to be sterilized. I never want to go through this again...ever. So for all of you ladies who get a BC procedure....take care and if your breast turns red and is very swollen...go to the ER, asap. Do not pass go and do not take tylenol....morphine is so much nicer!!!
