I just received the diagnosis, and I'm happy to have a name for my pain. (Is that a rhyme?) Anyway, I just stopped writing this to apply a heat wrap to one area of pain. I take seventy-five mg. at night and two of those in the morning. If I walk or garden, or shop, I can expect pain and a lot of it. I try not to complain and almost find the pain funny. It's so severe. Any ideas for relief? If I continue to veg, I'll be a rain barrel. Help!

I straightened my hair last night and was standing for an hour in front of the bathroom mirror. That was enough to make everything 10 times worse. And then the nightmares when I finally DO get to sleep . . .
Let me know if they give you anything that really works, or if you find a way to manage it.
I put all of the information on the article about your Spring garden. I guarantee you if you follow up on it, you shall be very, very happy!
I did not see this article. Sorry.
From my understanding, it varies with each individual. But does progress, and goes in stages, in time. Most are able from my obsevation (I have met a few with it) to lead realitivily normal lives, providing they take their medications in the proper doses, and not go over the limits of what they are cabable of doing.
Much has been discovered about the disease, since it was actually given a name. I hope you research it, so as to live a better and more fufilling life.
Oh well, just consider this Gather points - ha ha.
If you contact your local Arthritis Foundation they should be able to help direct you. I know they (or at least used to) hold classes/support groups and stuff about it. You might find that helpful. You gave doses of your meds but didn't say what meds you take.
Peter, I think you are thinking of fibrocystic breast disease.. totally different thing.
Carol - I have fibromyalgia - when I'm having a bad bout - it seems to spike when the barometric pressure increases - I take Lyrica twice a day. I don't need to take them everyday. Tylenol can cause kidney problems if taken regularly, ask your doctor about Lyrica - it works just fine.
Here's something I wrote a while back. I also have quite a few articles about specific symptoms and pains. It's a New Day!
I really don't know anything about it.
Take it easy OK?
Wolfie
I could sum it up with, its a disease that is painful, sometimes very much so.
It does not sound fun. I have heard Lyrica (prescription) may work for it.
Hope you get some relief somehow!
You have my deepest blessings to help you through it. Fibro is bad enough, poly is a nightmare. My rheumologist put me on steroids for two years and it's now gone.
I went in after it is was gone and said "Okay, we took care of that, now how do I get rid of the Fibro" he then told me that the fibro doesn't respond to any meds to cure it, you learn to live with it.
The fibro along with my arthritis is painful but still not as bad as having the poly on top of it. I do take 100 mg of Lyrica a day when the pain is bad. The capsules are 50 mg each so the low dosage does it for the fibro.
Please talk to your doctor about a course of steroids for the poly. Taking steroids is no joke, but for me anything was better than the poly.
Blessings girl - I feel for you.
