Gather Feedback 101

Ok so the new changes have been here almost a week now.  How does everyone feel about them so far?

I think the only part I'm not liking is Publishing to groups.  It's become a chore (not to complain about mouse clicking), but it seems to take more effort to select groups now.  You need to click and scroll, etc.  I really think they need to set it so you can have a "pre-selected" set of groups you commonly publish to..Not too hard to create.

Also, another recommendation I'd make is have an "Apply to Cash program" option when you hit 3000 in a month.  Then Gather can Accept or "Reject" you and provide reasoning.  I'm all for the incentives here, but the magical "you might get accepted" seems a bit mysterious and makes you wonder...

Overall I still enjoy the site, its members, articles, pics and feedback..

How does everyone feel about the changes that have gone on..any other changes you'd suggest?  Im interested in people's feedback here..thanks!

I wish they would open the options for Canadians...and gift certificates for places like Walmart or Costco....But I have said these all before... :)

I am fine with the changes. We asked for groups to be alphabetized and we got it.
I agree it takes a little longer but I like it.

It used to take me 2 minutes to check mark the groups I am choosing to publish to; the current upgrade this takes 20 to 15 minutes when you have 58 pages of groups and at 20 groups to a page it is overwhelming to say the least. This is burdensome to scroll through. When I now publish I will be selecting all and let the moderators sort it out as I do not have time to scroll through and select what I want as my time is precious I will not be using this feature I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!! and soon the mods will complain.

I actually like the group option better than the old way, but I do agree there should be a select all button or something...
I would love them to have Walmart gift cards, because I get a 10% employee discount so it would be an added bonus 8)

Matty, I personally like the way the group publishing is now. It seems easier than before. I agree with you on the pre-selected groups thing... Or maybe even letting us group our groups into folders, then just click on the folder and it'll post to all the groups in that specific folder. Also, I agree on the whole "if you're accepted" deal, but that's only because your suspiciousness is such an influence on me. lol. I don't have any other ideas for it at the moment.

The new group thing is a bit of a pain, but I'm having an easier time with it than I did with the check boxes. I don't publish to as many groups as I used to, but that's okay.

I would like the ability to set up "groups" of groups. So I could post to all of my "points" groups, or all of my picture groups, or whatever.
I like the new publish to groups page...
I have an article ready to go in half the time....

I really like the fact you don't have to refresh in between comments now, that is so great..

it's all good Randee, I think people either love or hate the group publish feature..

Anyone think they should eliminate the ratings/star system all together?

I'm fine with all of it. When you join a site, you have to find your way around and it's a pain. So, I think when some people get used to Gather one way, they don't like it when everything is rearranged.

That's another good point Bird..I had thought of that before as well, its why I don't upload as many pics..

I agree Debby, sites take some adjusting.
I don't like to publish to groups otpion...in fact I really hate it.

Gather claims to promote conversation. They killed that option with the upgrade. How well can you speak with Duct Tape all over your mouth?

One other thing if anyone stops by and is was ever "invited to the 3000 program"..did that come to your Gather email or your regular email? Was it when you click on your pts?

I agree with that too Nanci, it should be "Report Comment" rather than "Delete"..I think too much is left to the hands of the members versus the Gather staff or moderators deciding what comments are inappropriate or should be flagged.

Publishing to groups was always a pain in the butt to me and I'm not sure many of us even go there anyway. Well I don't much. I just wish they would of added an edit button. Let's complain so they'll do that next time!!!

I agree about the groups list - more work now. Good idea but more work.

I love the delete comments on my stuff, the take off ratings, and the not having to refresh to post another comment.

I'd like to see maybe an auto refresh every so often so the comments are current - but I bet that would take a lot.

But I say Gather is better now than before. :-)

I also disagree with Nanci - I actually have a couple comments on a silly poem I wrote about oral sex. I am debating if I should delete them before I get flagged. I think if people comment and play nice they'll be just fine.

I like it, I think its much easier holding down the shift key, selecting all and then removing the ones you dont want to post to.

Whoever it was who said it takes soooooooooooooo much longer to select groups now, I'm with you. It used to be click a few squares and be done with it. Now it takes forever for the selection process. A huge pain. Everything is slower now too. For me. I can click on a page and get a cup of coffee, then sit down and still not have the page loaded. It's not the same at any of my other frequent hang-outs so, I don't think it's my computer. This time.

I'm getting used to the groups the way they are - I think I'm actually faster and more accurate now. Everything else I like fine or don't use so it doesn't bother me.

i also feel that the chat section could be improved..
its great you dont haveta exit everytime you comment,but it isnt like a reg chat room type..you still haveta refresh to keep up with the conversation ya know-they should make it like an AIM chat deal

also,we should have the ability to block individual members from even seeing your posts or commenting

i like the new way of choosing groups now, but i do wish there was a feature where we could sort the groups into categories and then choose a category or 2 to publish. it would make it easier and i think it would help eliminate publishing to the wrong group.

I like the image loading much better now. that was the best thing I can think of. The groups listing is much more of a pain for anyone that has a moderate to large number of groups to go through, and the comment delete is something I am not that fond of, even though I understand why it was done, I am not sure that was the best way.

I don't know if I like the comment and rating thing. It kind of seems pointless....

I do like the way they have done the publish to groups though, it just takes a little getting used to. You are right though, it would be great if we could categorize our groups.

I think they need to tell you when you have new comments & on which pic, article, or video...cause I never know if someone looked in my past articles & if I need to return the favor ya know? Yeah.....

I don't see much of a change Matt.
What changes? (Scratching head...Mmmm) I'm brand new here, I think maybe less then a week or right at, so I wasn't use to the old way. I would love to have a way to group my groups the way I want. And how about being able to publish to just a few of your friends instead of all of them? And can we insert pictures into our private messages, because I haven't figured out a way to do it ...but I could be over looking it....if I had snakes around I'd be dead by now.

I thought publishing an article took a little longer than it did the last time, but I like how easy it is to add pictures to our pieces. But, I have a question about the 3,000 cash option. Is it an option, or do you get invited? Not sure how it works.
