Gather Triple Points: my itty bitty thoughts on it

I want to tell Gather, first of all, THANK YOU for offering your members "Triple Points" for the next week.

Here are MY itty bitty thoughts on it though: Gather Triple Points is a great idea in theory... but, it's taking SO long to publish things or send my thoughts to people, that it's just not even worth it to me to spend much time here today.

It takes over 5 minutes just to refresh a page, so what's the point?

Maybe I'll just try to come back really late at night, like I usually do, to see if traffic has slowed down enough to post anything.

Anyone care to share your thoughts on this subject?

I've been having a few problems too but am muddling through. I had to quit a couple of times though. I've been trying to post more stuff and go through my friends list and comment on their stuff. And to anyone who reads this, if you want to comment on any of my stuff, I will definately comment back on yours. ;)

I also feel the same way you do.Unfortunatly I haven't had much time in general to be on here lately.I'm also having computer issues so on top of it being normally slow I have added slowness.

I'm happy to know it's not just me who's having problems with the site. Don't get me wrong... I love Gather and it was a very nice idea of them to offer more points for the things we already do, but I know that people are out there just publishing meaningless material because they are driven by points. The points are great and I love them too - but if it's so slow... those people who are slowing everything down will just end up earning the same amount of points in the long run because it takes 3 times as long to publish anything. Know what I mean?

It sounds like everyone is having problems. I know the other half was complaining the other night about how slow it was.

I am not having that much of a problem with slowness. It is definitely taking longer, but no where near five minutes per page. At most it is taking about a minute to load pages for me, which is still pretty reasonable in my opinion.
I haven't had problems at all. My first thought was maybe it was your computer but by the comments above I see others have had the same problem.
Don't give up!

yep-- very slow here,too. i think gather probably didn't realize What a Huge response would happen by offering triple points, so the system is obviously strained . hopefully this issue can be and will be resolved soon. (reminds me of the old dial-up days)

10, 10, 10. Yes, today has been frustrating when it comes to page load time on Gather. Everything was soooo slow to start. But things seemed to have sped up a little since then. I'm guessing that this is indeed a result of the triple points promotion, in that there are more people requesting pages and making comments and publishing articles and thus slowing the whole system down. It's a bummer by-product though....

I agree, things are slower...and I'm trying to sneak this in without upsetting my family vacation. But...I think it is worth the extra effort.

I really haven't had much in the way of problems, either. I was able to publish both and article and an image with no trouble or wait at all. Seems like every time Gather goes off line for an upgrade or update, some people have problems for awhile after with the site running slow, while others experience nothing. Of course the traffic is going to be three times the volume with triple points offered. Just as long as everyone has lots of ratings and comments in them to go around for all before they get tired because of the extra posts. Lots of extra "games" and fluff articles will be posted in an effort to get as many triple points as possible. I want mine, too...LOL!

This is a tough one for Gather. They want to promote more usage and increase customer satisfaction. But the lack of preparedness for the load on the system might backfire. Perhaps they will address it over the weekend and extend the time on the promotion to make up for it. That's my itty bitty suggestion to Gather.

I just want to add as well that the amount of mass mails I've received today from people asking me to look at their content is outrageous!!! Is it the same for everyone else?

Loading pages takes forever and a day. I haven't tried publishing anything yet. It seems it's always like this the day after Gather does and update, so it doesn't surprise me. But it is frustrating especially considering people are wanting to take advantage of the triple points incentive.

I think its taking so long because of the masses of gatherites commenting and posting trying to take advantage of the triple points.. its always faster overnight, when I normally see you around here.... but shhh... we can't tell everyone our secret now can we?? lol...

It is slightly better now than when I first tried to come in today..... I had no problems replying to the comments some people had made on my last few articles, but getting into Gather properly by the "front gate" took quite a while!!!!

I too was thinking that although it is a great idea from gather (THANK YOU!) and a boon to be rewarded by triple points for something we love to do anyway, this would be an incentive to the ones who post 1 line meaningless "articles" and would probably increase their replying to each comment individually instead of as a grouping as I like to do..........

Well, this is bizarre but Gather is the best it has been in ages for me! Pretty strange. I have not had any problems.

I think it's a great idea. As for time to load pages and publish, I'm not seeing any lag or difference in this than any other normal day.

I was on fairly late last night and didn't have any particular problems with gather. Except I can't get my pictures sized right! I published a few pictures and a photo- journal of our trip to Corydon, IN.

I didn't even know about the triple points. Does that mean that the people who are trying to get the 3000 points for the cash option can use those bonus points toward that?
If so, everybody please go over to Austin Cushing's page and comment to help him meet his goal.
Faith, I hope you don't mind me using this to promote Austin. He seems like a pretty good guy trying to reach a goal.
I didn't notice any problems with posting comments earlier, but who knows what it might be doing now.
