Has anyone figured out how the points are earned?
Someone posted a tongue in cheek version of an answer, but I'd like real information.
According to the FAQs, there's a complex algorithm. I'd like something clearer than that for an answer.
It is not life changing, but basic curiousity - they seem to jump or not from time to time and I don't really know why and how.

On Tuesday, if you type your article while standing on your head, you get a bonus point for each article you submit; one point otherwise.
On Wednesday, being Hump Day, you get the square root of 6 as points for each article that you don't submit.
Thursday, add 4, subtract seven, multiply the result by Pi, and then add the atomic weight of gold.
Friday, there's a flurry of activity, people waiting at their desks to get home, so you get 8 points for articles submitted that keep them occupied as they watch the clock.
Saturday, well, it's an arbitrary number.
Sunday, it's a day of rest and no points are assigned.

Still trying to figure out have they jump faster for what? I know if someone signs up you really get a extra large number.
