In a post earlier this week, I mentioned graham crackers, and a couple of people said that they did not know that diabetics can have graham crackers, so I thought I would list some other things diabetics can have, here at Christmastime and throughout the year.
You can have:
3 Graham crackers (2 1/2 in sq.)
Animal crackers. 8
Saltine crackers. 6
Oyster crackers, 24
Popcorn, 3 cups
Pretzels, 3/4 oz.
Part-skim milk cheeses, 1 oz.
Most fruits
Most dried fruits
small amounts of nuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds
Coffee tea
Sugar-free cocoa
2 small Christmas cookies, any type with less than 6 g of sugar (check the label; you'll be surprised, especially if you look at the cheaper types of cookies. They tend to have less sugar.)
Gingersnaps, 3
Vanilla wafers, 6
Sugar free peppermints
Store bought fig bars, 2
sugar free pudding
sugar free gelatin
lite whipped topping
sugar free chocolate candy (in moderation)
granola bars
You can see the possibilities. Sugar free vanilla pudding, a banana or two, and some vanilla wafers make banana pudding.
Sugar gelatin and whipped cream make a lovely dessert.
Sugar free peppermint crushed and mixed into sugar free pudding tastes like Christmas!
I will be sharing more Christmas treats for diabetics as we approach the day!
