A week ago last Sunday I went to my first Flea Market with my sister Fran and posted some images of things that caught my eye. Though I bought nothing, I didn't walk away empty-handed. When I first arrived in the first stall I saw a picture that acught my eye. I looked at it and said casually to my sister how I really loved the print. She inquired of the seller the price and he responded $10. Having just started out on this adventure and only having $10 in my pocket, I sadly walked on. As we walked up one aisle after another Fran asked me why I liked the picture and I said it just reminded me of times past when things weren't as hectic as they are today. I love the study of history...and am intrigued by how people long ago met their most basic needs. And I do so love the clothing of the past...would that I could wear long dresses everyday.
As we were leaving the flea market, I noticed the picture was still propped up against a chair. Fran walked over and offered the seller $3. and to my amazement the seller accepted it. Then she walked over to me and said, "No one should leave their first flea market empty-handed!"
It's taken me a week to decide where to hang the picture but this morning I found the perfect place. Would you agree?

I 've hung it in the entry way to my special place - my bedroom. I absolutely love this room...it's so filled with space and light and when I lay upside down in my bed, I can see the tall pine trees swaying in the breeze and the cool water down below. It's the perfect place to read and journal... the perfect place to feel peace.

And when night draws nigh, it's the perfect place to lay ones head down!

Saw your comment about not getting notifications. It had been nearly 3 wks for me. I would get 2-3 a day even though I could say many more were being made. I had always gotten them in a yahoo e-mail acct. Then I saw a comment by Kevin yesterday about trying an acct outside of Yahoo and it has worked very well! Don't if you have your gather notifications go to a Yahoo acct but if so, you might want to set up an acct elsewhere.
I don't know how to bargain...if I'm alone, I just pay the full price or walk away empty handed.
Yes, Wilma, it's the damnest thing...no notifications...don't have a clue what's going on but after I read the comments on your site did post something to Gather Guide's tonight and Kevin asked me if I have a yahoo account...which I replied yes to...now I know. I wonder why?
magi...i am blessed and with that I need to meander on up to bed and greet the angels that might be residing on my pillow. Can't believe the time!!! 11:31...OMG...how will i ever wake in the morn?
You are in a lovely loation.
BTW...I am mailing you the little poem on Irises I wrote last year.
I love museum posters.
Glad that you got the thing that struck your eye and your fancy.
Oh Linda K. forgot to answer your question....Hancock Paint - Sea breeze (green); Purple is "Iris Mist" I believe it was called. Will and I had a ball picking out the colors for the whole house...Hancock has an interactive site where you can mix and match colors. Each room has two colors....really works well!
Thanks Kel for stopping by.
It is a great room to hang out in. Sometimes when we have a blizzard in the winter I camp out there all day in my pajamas!
But...if you had come to our house 20 years ago....a Brio train set running through living room and dining room you would have had to step over...and of course the Lego monorail...and a whole Stars War City....and science projects...and school backpacks.... and roller blades, skis, ski boots, snowboards, etc all over the place. Believe me, I don't miss all that clutter. Those days are over for now....it's kind of nice to clean the house, it stays that way.
I love your flooring BTW.
I'm glad I inspired you. I hate clutter....figure my minds cluttered enough without my surroundings cluttered too.
An amazing purchase for $3.00. Good for your sister for buying it for you.
Your favorite room has a lovely view.
